Toyota Supra nameplate could return

As you may or may not know, BMW and Toyota have joined forces to create a vehicle or two to each respected brand. The first of the models to roll out is to be badged as a BMW, the second of the models will roll out as a Toyota and could roll out with an iconic nameplate.

It appears the Supra nameplate is set to return and grace us mere mortals on an upcoming vehicle that we have all been waiting for since the early 2000’s before the original one was phased out.

News broke out as the Japanese company applied to re-trademarked the iconic name. While it isn’t 100% set in stone that the name is to be reborn, this is the closest we’ve been in quite some time.

We haven’t got any Supra for sale, but we do have plenty of new Toyota and used Toyota for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Next-generation Toyota Supra models are due out in 2018 or 2019 with an unconfirmed price, engine and drivetrain. Rumours point at the sports coupe as having a twin-turbocharged V6 engine developed by luxury in-house brand Lexus will others have the vehicle having a hybrid powertrain built in conjunction with BMW.

When we’ll get to see a production-ready version is yet to be known, however, a few months before launch you can expect to see a street-legal version to strut its stuff for each and every one of us to drool all over! For now, you gaze at the Toyota FT-1 concept.
