Upcoming Toyota Supra spotted with production headlights

Toyota’s reincarnation of the Supra has been spotted again navigating the streets of Germany. As it appears, the coupe is pretty much identical to that of the model spotted earlier this year. Upon further inspection, there is one clear difference.

Previously, halogen headlights featured at the front end. This fresh batch of images shows off production head lamps. Comprised of a cluster of LED’s, a thinner LED is clearly visible and will act as daytime running lights.

Based on an identical platform to the BMW Z4 successor, upcoming Toyota Supra models draw power from a selection of engines depending on markets. US customers can choose between a four-cylinder engine churning out 248 horsepower or a six-cylinder motor rated at 355 hp.

European customers can choose from both of those units plus an additional four-pot power plant. A hybrid drivetrain is said to join the ranks further down the production run.

According to reports, future Toyota Supra models will not be getting a manual gearbox to drive the rear wheels and will instead only ship with an automatic gearbox. Oddly enough, its BMW counterpart will have a manual box. Undoubtedly, this is sure to rattle the cages of pursuits out there.

While the model is still a year or so from a production run, it’s only a matter of time before the Supra sheds its camo and an official launch date and price tag.
