Volkswagen Microbus confirmed for 2022

Announced at the recent Concours d’Elegance, the Volkswagen Microbus is indeed returning after numerous motor show appearances.

Volkswagen hasn’t mentioned what power train hides beneath. We are aware; the Microbus will have a battery pack underneath the floor boards pointing towards some form of electrification.

They did confirm the new microbus will have a configurable interior allowing owners to move seats around to create thousands of unique seating arrangements. It will also ship with Level 3 autonomy capabilities.

A commercial version of the Volkswagen Microbus has been confirmed too; however, with the Toyota Hiace and Nissan Urvan running rampant across the region, it’ll face stiff competition within the segment.

Return of the Volkswagen Microbus

After each and every motor show or motoring event Volkswagen attended, thousands of emails and letters poured in from fans to “please build the car” leading to VW finally confirming the model.

Currently known as the I.D.Buzz concept, Volkswagen has plans to put the vehicle into production within the next five years with a launch date of 2022.

Our one gripe with the new Volkswagen Microbus is the styling. Yes, it looks the part in today’s bubble car society. Imagine the iconic original styling from the 60’s transitioning to the latest model. It would be an incredible sight to see these legendary vehicles on the road again with modern technology.

Before Volkswagen launches new Microbus models, an electric hatchback is destined to launch two years earlier in 2020.

Dubicars.com has new Volkswagen and used Volkswagen for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
