Volkswagen Passat GT said to debut in LA

After debuting last year in LA as a concept vehicle only, it appears VW may have reverted that decision as reports suggest the Volkswagen Passat GT will be on show once again in LA this year in production trim.

Volkswagen hasn’t let slip on what to expect. However, based on the concept, we’re expecting the Passat GT to retain the re-profiled bumpers, blacked out honeycomb front grille and rear mounted spoiler.

The model is also believed to have LED headlights, a sports exhaust system and sports suspension lowering GT versions by 1.5 centimetres.

As for the interior, it’s said to be almost identical to standard Passat models with a few unique details; This includes Piano black trim, faux carbon fibre trim and two-tone sports seats.

Similar to that of the concept model, Volkswagen Passat GT production models are reported to draw power from a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine. Rated at 280 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque, the enhanced four-door will be a key player in the mid-sized “sports” sedan segment.

This year’s LA Motor Show is when it’s expected to make its global debut in production trim with sales expected to commence shortly afterwards. Reports have the model priced at $30,000 or AED 110,190 in base configuration in the US.

As of now, it remains a mystery what markets these models will be available in. Not to worry, as if they aren’t available in your market, you can import one.
