Volkswagen working on new SUV based on the Polo

Volkswagen already has two SUV’s among their ranks, the Touareg and the Tiguan with the fist serving as the top end model and the latter serving as an entry-level option to German SUV brilliance.

Next year, the German brand will roll out anther SUV now based off the Polo platform moving Tiguan models from entry-level to mid-level.

Similarities between the new SUV and compact hatchback shouldn’t stop at just the platform, as we expect the unnamed vehicle to sport identical interior options to the Polo.

Additionally, we wouldn’t be surprised to pop the bonnet and find identical engines powering the wheels including three-cylinder petrol and diesel motors in Europe and a four-cylinder motor found across the world including the UAE and GCC countries.

On top of those engines, a new petrol-hybrid power unit is currently being developed by the German manufacturer could find its way underneath the bonnet. Not much is known about this revolutionary engine apart from that it will serve as an alternative to Volkswagen’s 1.6-litre diesel.

VW hasn’t officially released any pictures of the vehicle although we do now it will draw inspiration from the Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept from 2016.

Upon launch, the new SUV will draw an X on the back of the Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 and others of similar size.

Until the new SUV’s launch at the end of 2018, we’ve got new Volkswagen and used Volkswagen for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi including Polo, Touareg and Tiguan models.
