Mercedes Benz ML350 STANDARD

Highlights

• 540 Nm of torque
• 95-litre fuel tank
• Seven seats with all-wheel drive

Summary

This Japanese-spec diesel SUV offers a rare combination of long-distance cruising efficiency and high passenger capacity for its generation. With the BlueTEC V6 providing massive low-end torque, it handles full-load family trips across the Emirates with ease while maintaining better fuel economy than its petrol counterparts. Silver remains a top-tier choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining strong resale demand. For a buyer seeking Mercedes-Benz build quality with the utility of seven seats, this specific diesel model provides a practical, high-torque alternative to more thirsty V8 rivals. The 4MATIC system ensures stability during sudden rain or on gravel tracks, making it a versatile family workhorse.

This Car vs Other 2010 ML350s

At 170,000 km, this vehicle sits at a standard mileage for a 2010 model in the GCC, where highway-heavy driving is the norm. The Japanese regional specification is highly regarded locally for maintaining interior plastics and electronics better than many American imports. Finished in Silver, it carries one of the most resilient resale colors in the region, effectively hiding dust and reflecting the intense summer sun.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The BlueTEC trim brings a significant torque advantage over the petrol base models, essential for moving a seven-seat load efficiently. This trim includes the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system as standard, along with the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, providing a smoother power delivery than earlier M-Class iterations. Standard features include the COMAND interface and dual-zone climate control, which are vital for maintaining passenger comfort in the local climate.

ML350 vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the BMW X5 and Audi Q7, the ML350 stands out with its massive 95-litre fuel tank, offering a superior touring range for long-distance drives between Dubai and Muscat. Its turbodiesel engine provides nearly double the torque of a similarly aged Volvo XC90, making it more capable for light towing or highway overtaking. The M-Class suspension is traditionally tuned for a softer, more compliant ride over the X5’s sportier setup, prioritizing family comfort on long journeys.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world combined fuel consumption for the BlueTEC diesel averages approximately 8.9 L/100km, offering significant savings over petrol models in heavy stop-start city traffic. Mercedes-Benz maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts availability remaining high due to the popularity of the W164 chassis. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the rare diesel 7-seater configuration holds a specific niche that aids value retention in the secondary market.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L V6 turbodiesel delivers a substantial 540 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 8.7 seconds despite its significant curb weight. A ground clearance of roughly 210 mm allows for confident navigation of unpaved villa access roads or light sandy tracks during weekend escapes. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system continuously distributes power to all wheels, providing excellent traction on fast-moving highways during the winter rain season.

Comfort & Cabin

This rare 7-seat configuration makes it a primary choice for large families, offering flexible passenger and cargo space. The cabin is designed with high-quality materials that resist the heat-soak common in the GCC, and the air conditioning system is engineered to maintain consistent temperatures across the first two rows. Acoustic insulation is a hallmark of this generation, providing a quiet environment that reduces fatigue during long cross-border drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Mercedes-Benz's Pre-Safe system, which prepares the cabin if an imminent collision is detected by tightening seatbelts and closing windows. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive airbag suite, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and specialized off-road ABS, ensuring safety across both high-speed tarmac and loose surfaces. These systems are particularly effective for managing the vehicle's mass during emergency maneuvers on multi-lane highways.

The bottom line

This ML350 is a smart opportunity for a family buyer looking for the prestige and safety of a Mercedes-Benz SUV with the added practicality of diesel efficiency and seven seats. It is a rare, high-torque workhorse that stands out in a market dominated by petrol engines.
