Toyota Prado TX-L Toyota Prado TXL 6 Cylinder, Model: 2011.

Highlights

• 271 hp from a 4.0-liter V6
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2011 Toyota Prado TX-L represents a robust investment for a GCC buyer, pairing the more powerful 4.0-liter V6 engine with a reputation for legendary durability. While the mileage sits slightly below the typical regional average for a vehicle of this age, these units are known for their ability to cross the 300,000 km mark with routine maintenance. The blue exterior is a unique departure from the common white and silver, yet it remains a respected choice for resale in a market that prioritizes Toyota’s mechanical reliability. For those needing a genuine all-rounder, this SUV balances daily urban school runs in Dubai or Riyadh with the cooling capacity and low-range gearing required for weekend desert adventures. It remains the segment leader for a reason: it is built to survive the extreme Gulf climate while keeping seven passengers comfortable.

This Car vs Other 2011 Prados

With 188,000 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven approximately 14,500 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. While most 2011 models have now surpassed 250,000 km, this unit offers more mechanical longevity for its next owner. The blue exterior provides a distinctive look while maintaining the high resale value characteristic of the Land Cruiser family.

TX-L vs Lower Trims

The TX-L trim is a substantial step up from the base TX, most notably for its 4.0-liter V6 engine which provides the torque necessary for desert driving that the 2.7-liter 4-cylinder lacks. GCC-spec TX-L models typically include upgraded fabric upholstery, a more advanced multi-zone climate control system for rear passengers, and standard features like cruise control and rear parking sensors that were optional on lower grades.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero or Nissan Pathfinder of the same era, the Prado leads in specialized off-road hardware and cabin insulation from heat. Its 150-liter long-range fuel tank configuration, common in GCC specs, allows for extended desert trips or long highway drives between Emirates without frequent stops. Additionally, the Prado's cooling system is specifically engineered to maintain performance in 50°C summer peaks better than many European alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 consumes approximately 13.0L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, offering a reliable balance of power and efficiency for its size. Service intervals are every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the UAE and wider GCC, parts are affordable and readily available even in remote areas. This model enjoys some of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, typically losing only 8-10% of its value annually.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 9.6 seconds, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. It features a genuine low-range transfer case and 220 mm of ground clearance, making it a capable companion for sand dune bashing or rocky wadi drives. The full-time all-wheel-drive system provides consistent stability on both gravel tracks and rain-slicked city asphalt.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seat SUV features a highly flexible interior where the third row folds flat to reveal a generous cargo area for family road trips. The air conditioning system is a standout feature, utilizing dedicated rear vents and a high-output compressor to ensure the cabin remains cool during the peak of the Gulf summer. High-quality cabin materials and acoustic glass help minimize road noise during long-distance drives across the desert.

Safety

This Prado comes equipped with a suite of safety features including multiple airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) which is essential for maintaining control on sandy surfaces. The high driving position provides excellent visibility for highway traffic, while the reinforced body-on-frame construction offers superior protection in the event of an impact.

The bottom line

This V6 Prado is the ideal choice for a family seeking a bulletproof daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a weekend explorer, offering lower-than-average mileage for its year.
