Summary

This 2013 Kia Sportage EX is a standout choice in the compact SUV segment, offering a balance of performance and practicality that remains highly relevant in the local market. With mileage that is significantly below average for its 13 years of age, it represents a well-preserved example of one of the region's most popular family crossovers. The white exterior is a top-tier choice for GCC resale, ensuring strong demand and excellent heat reflection during the summer months. As the EX trim, it adds key comfort features that elevate the daily commute, making it a more refined option than the entry-level variants. For a GCC buyer, the combination of Kia's widespread service availability and the Sportage's proven durability makes this a low-risk, high-utility investment.

This Car vs Other 2013 Sportages

With just 126,500 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 9,700 km per year—less than half the typical GCC annual average of 20,000 to 25,000 km. This low usage suggests significantly less wear on the engine and suspension components compared to most 13-year-old SUVs in the UAE. The white exterior further enhances its value, as it is the most sought-after resale color in the region.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a substantial upgrade over the Base and LX models, specifically focusing on features that matter in the GCC climate. It standardizes dual-zone automatic climate control, allowing for precise cabin cooling, and typically includes larger 18-inch alloy wheels that improve road presence and stability. Interior upgrades such as the power-adjustable driver's seat and upgraded audio systems offer a more premium experience than the basic cloth-trimmed lower versions.

Sportage vs Segment Rivals

The Sportage competes directly with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, standing out with its more aggressive, modern design and a shorter turning circle of 11 meters, making it easier to navigate tight city parking. While rivals often prioritize a softer ride, the Sportage offers a more planted feel and a highly competitive 740-litre boot capacity that outperforms several class leaders in pure cargo volume. Its 2.4L engine provides a more responsive power-to-weight ratio for confident highway overtaking.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.4L petrol engine averages around 9.6 L/100km, making it a predictable commuter for UAE city and highway cycles. Kia maintains one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Historically, the Sportage enjoys strong value retention in the GCC, depreciating slower than European equivalents due to its reputation for mechanical simplicity and air-conditioning reliability.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine producing 176 hp, this Sportage EX delivers smooth power delivery through its 6-speed automatic transmission. The ground clearance and short overhangs make it capable of handling gravel tracks and light off-road weekend adventures with ease. On the highway, the steering is tuned for stability, providing a composed feel even during long-distance drives between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five adult passengers with a focus on ease of use and summer comfort. Dedicated rear cooling vents ensure the back row stays chilled during peak summer months, while the dual-zone climate system allows the driver and passenger to set individual temperature zones. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats fold nearly flat, expanding the already generous cargo area for large shopping trips or bulky outdoor gear.

Safety

This Sportage EX comes equipped with essential safety features including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which are particularly useful on sand-swept surfaces. It features a comprehensive airbag system and active headrests designed to mitigate whiplash. The 2013 model earned high safety marks for roof strength and side-impact protection, providing peace of mind for family transport on the fast-moving highways of the GCC.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a small family or professional looking for a low-mileage, GCC-spec SUV that balances low maintenance costs with premium EX trim features. Its well-documented reliability and high resale potential make it one of the smartest pre-owned buys currently on the market.
