Summary

This Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² is a rare, low-production off-road titan that commands immense presence in the UAE. Featuring the legendary portal axle system inherited from the 6x6, it stands significantly taller and wider than a standard G-Class, making it an ultimate statement piece for both city boulevards and desert expeditions. The designo Green exterior is a sought-after launch color that historically supports stronger resale value among collectors in the GCC. With its military-grade capability paired with a designo luxury cabin, this vehicle offers a driving experience that rivals cannot match. For the GCC buyer, this specific listing represents a well-maintained example of one of the most capable production 4x4s ever built.

This Car vs Other 2016 G500s

At approximately 130,000 km, this vehicle shows average mileage for a GCC-based 2016 model, where long-distance highway commutes are standard. Unlike a base G500, the 4x4² trim is a specialized, limited-production variant that has followed a much more stable depreciation curve in the regional market. The unique Green finish is a hallmark of this model's heritage and is highly preferred by local enthusiasts, providing a distinct advantage for future resale.

4X4 vs Lower Trims

The 4x4² trim introduces transformative hardware over the standard G500, most notably the dual-strut suspension with adjustable damping and portal axles that provide 450 mm of ground clearance. It also gains the wider carbon-fiber wheel arches and the aggressive front fascia typically reserved for AMG models. Inside, the trim upgrades the cabin to a full designo Exclusive interior with DINAMICA microfiber and contrast stitching as standard.

G500 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Range Rover Autobiography offer luxury, the G500 4x4² dominates in extreme terrain with a 1,000 mm wading depth that nearly doubles the class average. Its triple locking differentials and portal axle design allow it to clear obstacles that would stop a standard Land Cruiser or LX 570. The 4.0L Biturbo V8 provides superior low-end torque for sand dune climbing compared to naturally aspirated competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages roughly 13.8 L/100km, though this will increase during stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are required every 10,000 km or 12 months at authorized Mercedes-Benz centers, which are extensively available across the UAE, KSA, and Oman. This specific variant has shown exceptional value retention in the GCC, often holding a significant premium over standard G-Class models due to its limited production status.

Performance & Capability

The G500 4x4² features a 421 hp twin-turbo V8 that delivers 610 Nm of torque, enabling 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds despite its massive curb weight. Its capability is defined by a 52-degree approach angle and 44-degree departure angle, specifically engineered for the most demanding desert environments. The dual-spring suspension system allows the driver to toggle between Sport and Comfort modes to handle high-speed highway cruising and technical off-roading with equal poise.

Comfort & Cabin

Occupants are treated to a designo luxury environment featuring heated and ventilated front seats, which are essential for the GCC summer. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior heat and wind noise, featuring a premium Harman Kardon Surround Sound system for long inter-emirate drives. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated climate control vents, ensuring consistent cooling even when temperatures exceed 45°C.

Safety

The G500 4x4² is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Electronic Stability Program (ESP) specifically tuned for its higher center of gravity, alongside ABS and ASR traction control. Standard features include multiple airbags, blind-spot monitoring for highway safety, and a rearview camera to assist with parking its wide footprint. The portal axle design also provides a reinforced underbody, offering additional protection during serious off-road excursions.

The bottom line

For the collector who demands the most capable and visually imposing SUV in the region, this GCC-spec G500 4x4² in its iconic green finish is an investment-grade opportunity that stands above any standard luxury off-roader.
