Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 1 represents the highly sought-after launch specification of the redesigned W463A generation. Finished in a rare Brown exterior, it offers a sophisticated alternative to the more common black and white examples usually found in the UAE. With 80,000 km, the mileage is perfectly aligned with GCC averages for a five-year-old luxury SUV used for highway commuting between emirates. As an Edition 1, it features exclusive red-accented interior details and 22-inch forged wheels that command a significant premium in the local resale market. For the GCC buyer, this model provides the ideal balance of iconic status and the vastly improved on-road comfort introduced in this generation.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

At 80,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 16,000 km per year, which is below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000 km for luxury SUVs. While many G-Wagons in the region are finished in obsidian black, this Brown metallic finish is a distinguished choice that maintains strong appeal for collectors seeking a unique look. The Edition 1 status ensures this vehicle holds its value better than standard 2019 models due to its limited production run at launch.

EDITION 1 vs Lower Trims

The Edition 1 was the flagship launch trim, adding distinctive matte graphite sports stripes and red-flanged 22-inch forged cross-spoke wheels not found on standard models. Inside, it receives the Exclusive Interior Plus package with red-stitched diamond-quilted Nappa leather and a red 12 o’clock marker on the AMG performance steering wheel. These high-contrast aesthetic upgrades are specifically valued by UAE buyers and often lead to faster turnaround times at resale.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Range Rover Sport SVR and Porsche Cayenne Turbo offer high-speed composure, the G63 remains the only vehicle in its class to feature a professional-grade triple-locking differential system for genuine desert capability. It offers superior headroom and a more commanding driving position than its European competitors, making it a favorite for navigating busy multi-lane highways in Dubai and Riyadh. The iconic boxy silhouette also provides a level of road presence that sleeker crossovers cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 13.2 L/100km, though GCC stop-start city traffic can increase this significantly. The 100-litre fuel tank is a major advantage for long-distance drives across the UAE or into Oman, providing a theoretical highway range of over 600 km. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across all GCC countries, ensuring reliable maintenance and parts availability. The G63 historically retains roughly 70-75% of its value after three years in the GCC market, performing significantly better than most luxury performance SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The hand-assembled 4.0L V8 biturbo produces a massive 850 Nm of torque, allowing this 2.5-tonne SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT transmission is tuned for rapid highway overtaking, while the selectable low-range transfer case ensures it remains a titan off-road. With 241 mm of ground clearance and dedicated Sand, Trail, and Rock modes, it is as capable in the Liwa dunes as it is on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit displays, providing a modern tech experience that was a massive leap over the previous generation. Multi-zone climate control and powerful cooling vents are designed to handle 45°C+ summer temperatures, ensuring passenger comfort throughout the cabin. Acoustic glass helps isolate the interior from road noise, while the Burmester surround sound system provides a premium audio experience for long desert journeys.

Safety

Standard safety features include a 360-degree camera system, which is essential for maneuvering this large vehicle in tight urban parking spaces. It comes equipped with a full suite of ADAS technologies, including Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control (Distronic) to reduce driver fatigue on long highway stretches. The robust ladder-frame construction provides a solid foundation for passive safety, complemented by a comprehensive airbag system.

The bottom line

This Edition 1 G63 is a rare opportunity to own a limited-production flagship in a unique color, offering better value retention and presence than a standard GCC-spec model.
