Toyota Prado VXR

Highlights

• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• 87-litre fuel tank
• Selectable terrain modes

Summary

This 2016 Toyota Prado VXR is a standout find in the GCC market, combining the durability of a 10-year-old workhorse with incredibly low mileage for its age. Black is a consistently strong resale color for SUVs in the region, ensuring better value retention when it comes time to upgrade. While the 2.7L engine is built for efficiency and long-term reliability rather than raw speed, the VXR trim provides the premium cabin features local buyers prioritize. For a GCC owner, the peace of mind offered by the region's most extensive service network makes this a practical daily driver. This specific listing represents a rare opportunity to own a well-maintained, high-trim Prado with significantly less wear than typical for this model year.

This Car vs Other 2016 Prados

With just 49,359 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven less than 5,000 km per year, which is far below the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. While most 10-year-old Prados in the market have surpassed the 200,000 km mark, this vehicle offers a nearly-new mechanical life. The black exterior is a highly desirable color in the UAE and wider Gulf, typically fetching a premium at resale compared to niche colors.

VXR vs Lower Trims

As the top-spec variant for this engine class, the VXR trim adds essential luxury and convenience features that the base EXR lacks. You get premium leather upholstery instead of fabric, a sunroof, and an upgraded infotainment system with navigation and a rear-view camera. GCC buyers will especially appreciate the dual-zone automatic climate control system, which is engineered to handle the region's extreme summer heat more effectively than the standard units.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero or Ford Explorer, the Prado leads with its legendary resale confidence and structural durability. Its body-on-frame construction makes it a more robust choice for weekend desert excursions than monocoque-based crossovers. Additionally, the Prado's 87-litre fuel tank provides a superior touring range, which is a major advantage for long-distance drives between Emirates or across GCC borders.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L powertrain is famously reliable and easy to maintain, with service intervals typically every 5,000 to 10,000 km at any authorized Toyota center across the UAE, KSA, or Oman. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.5–12.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a full-sized 4x4 in GCC stop-start traffic. Prados historically hold their value better than almost any other SUV in the region, often retaining over 60% of their value after five years of use.

Performance & Capability

The 160 hp engine is designed for steady cruising and maximum durability in high-temperature environments. It features a capable All Wheel Drive system with selectable low-range modes, providing genuine off-road capability for sand dunes or gravel tracks. With a ground clearance of approximately 215 mm, it easily navigates rough terrain and high curbs that would challenge a standard sedan.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is perfectly suited for large families, featuring a 60/40 split in the second row for easy access to the back. The VXR's cabin is insulated to protect against desert heat, supported by a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated vents for rear passengers. Leather seating and the power sunroof create a premium atmosphere that remains comfortable during long-distance highway commutes.

Safety

This Prado is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Brake Assist. It also features Electronic Stability Control and Active Traction Control, which are vital for maintaining grip on sandy or oil-slicked roads. The inclusion of parking sensors and a rear-view camera adds confidence when navigating the tight parking spaces found in Dubai and Riyadh.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking a 'like-new' ownership experience in a proven, bulletproof SUV. Its exceptional low mileage and VXR spec make it one of the most compelling Prado listings currently available in the GCC.
