Toyota Prado TX-L

Highlights

• Full-size spare wheel
• 87-litre fuel tank
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This Toyota Prado is a standout choice in the pre-owned market, boasting mileage that is significantly lower than average for a nine-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The white exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the region, ensuring it holds its value exceptionally well for the next owner. While competitors often prioritize complex electronics, the Prado’s 2.7L powertrain is renowned for its mechanical simplicity and legendary durability in extreme heat. The TX-L trim provides the essential comforts for family life without the unnecessary complexity of higher-tier electronics, making it a pragmatic long-term investment. For a buyer seeking the ultimate balance of utility and local market liquidity, this low-mileage example is hard to beat.

This Car vs Other 2017 Prados

With only 66,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 7,300 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. While most 2017 Prados on the market are approaching major high-mileage service milestones, this unit remains in its mechanical prime. The white exterior further strengthens its position, as it is the most preferred color for heat reflection and resale liquidity in the UAE and Saudi markets.

TX-L vs Lower Trims

The TX-L serves as the enhanced mid-range option, adding critical features over the base TX that GCC families prioritize. It typically includes a factory-installed cool box in the center console for beverages and cruise control for easier long-distance travel between emirates. Additionally, the TX-L often features upgraded upholstery and a sunroof, providing a more premium cabin environment than the utilitarian entry-level trims.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado consistently leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Pathfinder in terms of sheer resale value and regional parts availability. Its body-on-frame construction offers genuine off-road durability that monocoque competitors cannot match for weekend desert excursions. Furthermore, the extensive Toyota service network across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia ensures peace of mind that few other brands can provide for cross-border travel.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L engine is designed for reliability and runs efficiently on 95-octane petrol, with real-world combined consumption averaging around 11.7L/100km. Service intervals are standard for the region at every 10,000 km, and authorized service centers are available in every major city across the GCC. Prados are famous for having one of the lowest depreciation rates in the Middle East, often retaining 80-85% of their value even after several years of use.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a permanent All-Wheel Drive system and a 6-speed automatic transmission, the Prado is built to handle everything from city traffic to light desert trails. Its 215mm ground clearance allows it to clear obstacles that would stop most family crossovers, while the 87-litre fuel tank provides a significant cruising range for long highway drives. The 160 hp output focuses on steady torque delivery rather than high-speed sprints, making it a reliable workhorse for regional conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat configuration is highly versatile, featuring a foldable third row that opens up significant boot space for family road trips. The cabin is specifically designed for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful multi-zone air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool in summer. Features like the center console refrigerator and acoustic glass standard on this trim significantly enhance the long-distance driving experience.

Safety

Safety is managed through a suite of active and passive systems including Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), which is particularly useful on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces. The TX-L trim comes standard with multiple airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors, providing the security expected of a premium family SUV. Its robust body-on-frame design also provides a physical safety advantage in the fast-moving highway traffic common in the GCC.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, GCC-spec Prado that is perfectly configured for the regional climate and will likely be one of the easiest cars to sell whenever you decide to upgrade.
