Summary

This 2017 Range Rover Sport SVR represents the mechanical peak of the L405 generation, delivering supercar acceleration in a chassis capable of crossing the toughest GCC terrain. Finished in white, the most preferred color for resale in the local market, it avoids the rapid depreciation of bolder palettes while reflecting the desert heat effectively. As an SVR, it adds exclusive performance hardware like active quad exhausts and unique sport seats that the standard V8 trims lack. Having already absorbed its primary depreciation curve, it offers a high-value entry point into Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) ownership. This is the ideal choice for an enthusiast who demands uncompromising speed for Dubai highways and genuine off-road heritage for weekend adventures.

This Car vs Other 2017 Range Rover Sports

With 176,000 km, this vehicle reflects the higher annual usage common in the GCC, where long-distance inter-city commutes are standard. While higher than some weekend-only cars, its mileage is consistent with a 9-year-old vehicle used as a primary luxury commuter across the Emirates. The white exterior is a strategic advantage for GCC buyers, holding its value significantly better than more niche colors at trade-in.

SVR vs Lower Trims

The SVR is a significant leap over the HSE and Autobiography trims, featuring a retuned 5.0L engine that pushes output to 575 hp. Beyond the power boost, it gains a bespoke SVR aero kit, a louder active-valve exhaust system, and unique performance seats with integrated headrests. GCC buyers specifically value the upgraded cooling and high-performance Brembo braking system standard on this trim.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the Range Rover Sport SVR leads in absolute terrain flexibility with its superior 850 mm wading depth and Terrain Response 2 system. It offers a more commanding driving position for navigating fast-moving GCC highway traffic and maintains a higher fuel tank capacity for long cross-border journeys. While rivals focus purely on the track, the SVR is engineered for both the circuit and the sand.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 12.8 L/100km on combined cycles, though city driving in stop-start traffic will see this rise. Authorized Land Rover service centers are plentiful across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with a wide network of independent specialists available for out-of-warranty care. The SVR trim retains a larger percentage of its value in the GCC compared to the base V6 models due to its status as a flagship performance icon.

Performance & Capability

A top speed of 280 km/h makes this one of the fastest SUVs available in the region, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 or E311. The permanent all-wheel-drive system and twin-speed transfer box allow for genuine low-range crawling when heading into the dunes. Its 575 hp supercharged engine is specifically tuned for immediate torque delivery, essential for maintaining momentum in soft sand conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is focused on performance luxury, featuring ventilated front sport seats that are vital for the GCC summer. Multi-zone climate control ensures rear passengers remain comfortable even in 45 degree temperatures, while the Meridian audio system provides a premium acoustic experience. Specialized acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from both desert heat and highway wind noise during long drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes an advanced 360-degree camera system, essential for parking large SUVs in tight city spaces. The SVR is equipped with blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, providing a significant safety margin during high-speed highway travel. High-performance Brembo brakes ensure consistent stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded with family and gear for a weekend road trip.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the loudest, fastest, and most capable SUV in the market, this SVR offers flagship performance at a fractional cost of a new model. It is a well-specced opportunity for those who value the prestige of the SVR badge and the security of a high-resale white exterior.
