Summary

This 2018 Range Rover Evoque Autobiography represents the flagship trim of the first-generation facelift, offering the highest level of refinement available in the lineup. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle the region's climate with an upgraded cooling system and premium cabin materials designed for heat durability. While the mileage reflects active use typical for a UAE commuter, the Autobiography trim adds unique luxury touches and a more powerful engine variant that helps it maintain a strong presence in the used market. Black is a highly sought-after resale color in the GCC, ensuring this SUV remains a liquid asset. This model perfectly balances compact city maneuverability with the unmistakable prestige of the Range Rover badge.

This Car vs Other 2018 Range Rover Evoques

At 185,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the average GCC luxury SUV of this age, which typically sees 20,000–25,000 km annually. However, being the top-tier Autobiography trim, it offers significantly more standard equipment than the more common SE or HSE trims found in the market. The black exterior is one of the three strongest resale colors in the region, helping to offset the depreciation usually associated with higher mileage.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY vs Lower Trims

The Autobiography trim distinguishes itself from the HSE Dynamic with exclusive Oxford leather upholstery and 14-way power-adjustable massaging front seats, a feature highly valued for long Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi commutes. It also upgrades the audio experience to an 825-watt Meridian Surround Sound system and includes unique 20-inch alloy wheels and subtle exterior styling cues that signal its flagship status. You also benefit from standard adaptive LED headlights, which provide superior visibility on dark desert highways.

Range Rover Evoque vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the Evoque leads with genuine off-road heritage, featuring the Terrain Response system that allows it to handle sand and gravel tracks better than its road-biased competitors. Its compact dimensions make it significantly easier to park in tight urban malls than a Lexus NX, while still offering a more prestigious interior. The 286 hp engine in this Autobiography trim also offers a performance edge over base-engine rivals in the same class.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.0L turbo engine typically averages around 9.6 L/100km, though GCC city traffic may see figures closer to 11 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 16,000 km or 12 months, and Jaguar Land Rover maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the Autobiography trim holds its value better due to its high original MSRP and desirable feature list. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and warranty complications often faced by imported American or European models.

Performance & Capability

This variant produces 286 hp and 400 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in approximately 6.4 seconds, making it one of the quickest compact SUVs on the highway. The nine-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts during long-distance cruising across the emirates. With 212 mm of ground clearance and dedicated modes for Grass/Gravel/Snow and Mud/Ruts, it is fully capable of handling light off-road excursions and weekend desert camping trips. The All-Terrain Progress Control acts as a low-speed cruise control, which is particularly useful for maintaining traction on soft surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of British luxury, featuring five seats upholstered in premium leather and a panoramic glass roof that adds an airy feel to the interior. For the GCC summer, the powerful dual-zone climate control is supplemented by ventilated front seats that are standard on this trim, ensuring comfort even in 45°C temperatures. The 10-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system provides seamless navigation and connectivity. Acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

The 2018 Evoque Autobiography comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Blind Spot Monitoring and Reverse Traffic Detection, which are essential for navigating multi-lane GCC highways. Standard features also include Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and a 360-degree Surround Camera system that makes maneuvering in tight spaces effortless. The vehicle is built with a reinforced safety cell and multiple airbags to ensure maximum occupant protection.

The bottom line

This Range Rover Evoque Autobiography is the ideal choice for a professional looking for a prestigious, high-spec daily driver that stands out from the crowd. It offers flagship luxury and GCC-ready performance in a package that is as comfortable on Sheikh Zayed Road as it is at a weekend retreat.
