Summary

This 2019 Jaguar XJ 50 LWB represents the final anniversary edition of an automotive icon, celebrating 50 years of the XJ nameplate. In the GCC market, the long-wheelbase configuration is highly sought after for its executive presence and additional rear legroom, while the Black-on-Black color combination remains a top-tier choice for resale value. As a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling capacity and air conditioning performance necessary for peak summer operation across the Emirates. The XJ distinguishes itself from German rivals with its lightweight aluminum architecture, offering a more agile and driver-focused experience without sacrificing the plush ride expected of a flagship sedan.

This Car vs Other 2019 XJs

With 134,000 km, this XJ has been driven approximately 26,800 km per year, which is closely aligned with the typical GCC highway-heavy usage of 25,000 km. Unlike standard models, this is the 50th Anniversary edition, featuring unique XJ50 badging and diamond-stitched leather. The black exterior is a primary resale advantage in the UAE, consistently outperforming lighter shades in the luxury used market.

50 - LWB vs Lower Trims

The XJ50 trim sits above the standard Portfolio LWB, adding exclusive 20-inch wheels, unique front and rear bumpers, and a Gloss Black front grille. Inside, it upgrades the cabin with 50th-anniversary embossed headrests, illuminated treadplates, and a higher grade of quilted leather upholstery. These aesthetic and material upgrades make it a rare find compared to the more common R-Sport or Portfolio trims.

XJ vs Segment Rivals

Against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, the Jaguar XJ leads with its all-aluminum monocoque construction, which significantly reduces weight for better handling. It offers a 521-liter boot, which provides more usable flat-load space than many competitors in this year. The supercharged V6 provides more immediate throttle response than the turbocharged units often found in rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L supercharged engine returns approximately 9.1 L/100km on a combined cycle, though GCC city traffic will see this figure rise due to stop-start conditions. Authorized service centers like Al Tayer and Premier Motors provide extensive coverage across the UAE, with recommended service intervals typically set at 13,000 km or 12 months. As a final-edition anniversary model, the XJ50 holds its value better than base-spec European luxury sedans, depreciating at a more stable rate due to its relative rarity.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a supercharged 3.0L V6 producing 340 hp, this sedan reaches a top speed of 250 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive setup and ZF 8-speed automatic transmission are tuned for smooth highway cruising between emirates, while the All Surface Progress Control helps maintain traction on sandy or slippery road shoulders. Its aluminum body ensures that the 450 Nm of torque translates into brisk, effortless overtaking at highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The LWB designation adds over 12 centimeters of additional rear legroom, making it ideal for chauffeur-driven use or comfortable family trips. The cabin features four-zone climate control with powerful vents to combat the GCC heat, and the XJ50 trim includes ventilated and heated seats as standard for all primary passengers. Double-glazed acoustic glass significantly reduces wind noise during high-speed desert highway drives.

Safety

This 2019 model comes standard with Jaguar’s full suite of ADAS technology, including Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and a Driver Condition Monitor. Blind-spot monitoring and rear traffic detection are particularly useful for navigating multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The high-strength aluminum architecture provides a rigid safety cell, while multiple airbags and stability control systems ensure passenger protection in all conditions.

The bottom line

This XJ50 Anniversary Edition is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking a rare, GCC-spec flagship that balances British elegance with reliable V6 supercharged performance. It offers a distinct executive presence that stands out from the common German luxury alternatives.
