Summary

This 2019 Nissan Patrol Safari represents a rare opportunity to own a nearly bulletproof desert icon with the desired 4.8L VTC engine. While the 183,000 km mileage reflects a vehicle that has been used for its intended purpose, it remains well within the expected range for a seven-year-old GCC-based off-roader. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in the region, ensuring maximum value retention when it comes time to upgrade. This Safari trim offers the perfect balance of mechanical simplicity and essential comforts, making it more desirable than the base GL for those who actually venture into the dunes. For a GCC buyer, this remains the most trusted platform for reliable long-distance regional travel and hardcore weekend exploration.

This Car vs Other 2019 Patrols

With 183,000 km over seven years, this Patrol has averaged approximately 26,000 km per year, which is consistent with typical GCC highway and inter-emirate use. While many Y62 models from this year are sought after for luxury, the Safari trim's value is driven by its legendary mechanical durability. The white paint is highly advantageous in the local market, as it deflects desert heat more effectively and commands the quickest turnaround at resale.

SAFARI SW vs Lower Trims

The Safari trim is a significant step up from the base GL, adding essential daily comforts like a center console cool box for the summer months and a superior audio system. It also features more robust aesthetic upgrades including the iconic body stripes and wheel arch flares that define the Patrol's road presence. Most importantly, it often includes the rear differential lock that is frequently absent on base-spec utilitarian models.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol Safari's primary rival is the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series, but the Nissan leads significantly in cabin comfort and engine smoothness for highway cruising. Its 135-litre fuel capacity provides a massive range advantage over smaller SUVs like the Mitsubishi Pajero, which is critical for long expeditions into the Empty Quarter. The 4.8L inline-six delivers a torque-rich power delivery that many enthusiasts find superior to modern turbocharged rivals in deep sand.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L engine typically settles around 17.2L/100km, reflecting the heavy-duty nature of this powertrain in stop-start traffic and high-speed highway runs. Maintenance is remarkably straightforward, with an extensive network of authorized Nissan service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensuring parts are always available. The Patrol Safari holds one of the strongest resale values in the GCC, often retaining over 65% of its value after three years due to high demand from the local off-roading community.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 280 hp TB48DE engine, a legend in the GCC for its tuning potential and reliability in extreme 50°C heat. It features a genuine part-time 4WD system with a manual low-range transfer case, allowing the driver to tackle the specialized terrain of the Liwa or Al Madam deserts with total confidence. With 244 mm of ground clearance as standard, it effortlessly clears obstacles that would stop most modern unibody crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for the region's climate, the Safari cabin features high-output air conditioning with dedicated rear cooling vents to keep all passengers comfortable during peaked summer. The five-seat configuration in the SWB/Wagon provides ample legroom and a massive cargo area for camping gear or supplies. Touches like the cooled center console box ensure drinks stay cold during long desert drives, a feature highly prized by GCC owners.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), providing stable stopping power on both sand and tarmac. The vehicle is built on a heavy-duty body-on-frame chassis with side-impact door beams for enhanced structural integrity. Rear parking sensors are standard on this trim, easing the task of maneuvering this large-footprint SUV in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

This is the definitive choice for an enthusiast or family looking for a rugged, GCC-proven off-roader that holds its value as well as it holds the dunes. Its combination of a white exterior and the legendary 4.8L engine makes it a secure investment in the current used market.
