Summary

This 2019 Nissan Patrol Super Safari is a rare opportunity to own a legendary off-roader with a high-resale gold exterior that is particularly sought after in the GCC. While the mileage reflects a well-used seven-year-old vehicle, this model is built on a heavy-duty ladder-frame chassis designed to endure far higher odometer readings than typical family crossovers. As the highest trim available for the iconic Y61 generation, it delivers a specific mix of mechanical ruggedness and premium cabin features like leather and a cool box that cheaper trims lack. For a buyer in the UAE or KSA, this represents the definitive 'desert king' that balances weekday highway stability with absolute weekend dominance in the dunes. It remains one of the few vehicles in the region where parts are available in every corner of the GCC, ensuring long-term peace of mind.

This Car vs Other 2019 Patrols

With 210,000 km over seven years, this Patrol has averaged roughly 30,000 km per year, which is typical for a primary vehicle in the GCC where long-distance highway commutes between Emirates are standard. Its gold exterior is a top-tier choice for resale in this region, resisting the visible effects of desert dust and heat better than darker shades. Mechanically, the TB48DE engine in this car is renowned for its million-kilometer potential if maintained correctly.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari sits at the top of the Y61 lineup, adding critical comfort and style features that the base Safari and GL trims lack. You get premium leather upholstery, a factory-fitted refrigerator (cool box), and a sunroof as standard, along with the distinct Super Safari wide-fender flares and machine-cut alloy wheels. Most importantly for enthusiasts, this trim includes the rear differential lock and the high-output 4.8L engine configuration that provides significantly more low-end torque than the older 4.2L variants.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol Super Safari leads its main rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series, in cabin refinement and highway manners due to its coil-spring suspension setup compared to the Toyota's leaf springs. It offers a massive 135-litre fuel capacity, which is essential for long-range desert expeditions where petrol stations are hundreds of kilometers apart. While the Y62 Patrol is more modern, the Super Safari is preferred by GCC purists for its superior approach angles and mechanical simplicity.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L inline-6 typically ranges between 17 and 19 L/100km in GCC city traffic, dropping to approximately 16 L/100km on the highway. Maintenance is straightforward, with authorized Nissan service centers available in every major city from Riyadh to Muscat and parts widely stocked by third-party retailers. The Super Safari enjoys some of the highest value retention in the UAE market, often losing less than 10% of its value annually due to its cult status.

Performance & Capability

The 4.8L TB48DE engine produces a robust 451 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless climbing in deep sand and a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 10.8 seconds. It features a dedicated low-range transfer case and 215 mm of ground clearance, making it capable of handling steep 38-degree inclines and soft dune crests without overheating. The automatic transmission is specifically tuned for the region's heat, providing reliable shifting even during mid-summer desert drives.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the seven-seat layout features high-quality leather and a powerful GCC-spec air conditioning system that is famous for its ability to cool the cabin rapidly in 45-degree heat. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and ample legroom, while the driver enjoys electric seat adjustments and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The inclusion of a factory cool box in the center console is a significant advantage for keeping beverages chilled during long family road trips across the Emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed through a robust body-on-frame design, dual front airbags, and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) designed for both tarmac and loose surfaces. This trim also includes a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and cruise control, which are vital for safety and comfort during long desert highway stretches. The vehicle’s stable footprint and heavy curb weight provide a sense of security that is unmatched by lighter monocoque SUVs.

The bottom line

This Super Safari is the perfect choice for a GCC buyer who wants a bulletproof, high-spec desert icon that holds its value as well as it holds a dune line. It is a ready-to-go adventure machine that doubles as a comfortable family cruiser for the region's highways.
