Toyota Land Cruiser EXR

Highlights

• Crawl Control with Multi-Terrain Select
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser EXR represents one of the most practical entry points into the legendary 200-series platform, offering the ideal balance of durability and daily usability. With 68,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the 140,000 km typical for a seven-year-old SUV in the region. The 4.0L V6 engine is highly regarded across the Gulf for its mechanical simplicity and lower maintenance requirements compared to the V8 alternatives. Finished in black, a high-demand resale color in the UAE, it remains a robust choice for families who need a dependable seven-seater that holds its value exceptionally well. For anyone seeking a bulletproof daily driver that can handle weekend desert trips with ease, this GCC-spec Land Cruiser is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2019 Land Cruisers

At 68,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is notably low for its age, especially in a market where 20,000 to 25,000 km per year is the standard for full-size SUVs. While many 2019 models are approaching major service milestones at 150,000 km, this example offers a much fresher mechanical baseline. The black exterior is a strong resale asset in the GCC, ensuring it remains highly liquid in the used market.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential foundation for the Land Cruiser range, providing the critical off-road hardware like Crawl Control and a center console cooler box that more basic workhorse trims lack. It includes the 7-inch touchscreen and smart keyless entry as standard, features that are highly valued for city driving in Dubai and Riyadh. While it maintains durable fabric seating for easy cleaning after desert trips, it still provides the Optitron meter and woodgrain interior accents found in higher variants.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol V6, the Land Cruiser 4.0L leads in long-term reliability and has a slightly more focused off-road geometry. Its resale value in the UAE remains the benchmark for the segment, often retaining a higher percentage of its value after five years than rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe. The availability of parts in even the most remote areas of the GCC gives it a clear advantage for cross-border travel.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 averages roughly 12.9 to 13.4 L/100km, which is competitive for a heavy body-on-frame SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. As a Toyota, it benefits from the most extensive service network in the region, with authorized centers easily accessible from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. Historical data for the UAE shows the Land Cruiser loses only about 8.3% of its value annually, making it one of the safest automotive investments in the Gulf.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a reliable 6-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system, delivering a top speed of 200 km/h. Its true strength lies in its 230 mm ground clearance and specialized off-road software like Crawl Control, which manages acceleration and braking automatically on difficult terrain. Whether navigating soft sand in the Liwa Desert or cruising at 140 km/h on the highway to Oman, the chassis remains composed and stable.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is designed for family logistics, featuring dedicated rear AC vents that are essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer. The factory-integrated refrigerator in the center console is a significant luxury in this climate, keeping drinks chilled even during long desert drives. Acoustic glass and thick insulation ensure the cabin remains quiet and shielded from highway wind noise and external heat.

Safety

This EXR trim comes standard with a robust safety package including dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). It features Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Tire Pressure Monitoring, which are vital for safety when transitioning from highway speeds to off-road environments. The vehicle's stability control systems are specifically tuned to handle the unique traction challenges of sand and gravel common in the region.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer prioritizing mechanical longevity and market-leading resale value, this low-mileage 4.0L EXR is the most sensible way to own a legendary 200-series Land Cruiser.
