Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol Super Safari represents the final, most refined iteration of the legendary Y61 generation, a vehicle so revered in the GCC that it remained in production alongside its successor. Its Gold exterior is a high-demand, high-resale choice across the region, perfectly suited for the desert environment. With 72,516 km, this example sits well below the typical 100,000 km+ average for a four-year-old Patrol in the UAE, making it a standout for collectors and enthusiasts. The Super Safari trim adds the essential creature comforts and luxury missing from standard models without compromising the rugged solid-axle durability that defines the 'VTC' legacy. For the GCC buyer, this is the definitive balance of heritage, off-road supremacy, and modern connectivity.

This Car vs Other 2020 Nissan Patrols

While most 2020 Patrols in the GCC have surpassed 90,000 km due to frequent cross-emirate travel, this unit’s 72,516 km reading is notably low. The Gold exterior is a premier resale color in the local market, effectively masking desert dust and holding value better than niche shades. This specific year benefited from the late-cycle infotainment upgrade, offering better tech than early Y61 re-releases.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari elevates the Y61 platform with standard tan leather upholstery and 8-way power-adjustable driver seats, features rarely found on the utilitarian Safari or GL trims. It also includes the crucial rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors integrated into a 2020-specific touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Distinctive exterior decals and 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheels further distinguish it from the basic 16-inch steel or alloy options on lower models.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series, the Patrol Super Safari offers a vastly superior coil-sprung ride quality and a more refined cabin for daily use. Its 4.8L straight-six engine is widely considered more tunable and responsive for dune bashing than the V6 alternatives in the segment. Additionally, its dual fuel tank system provides a massive advantage for long-range desert expeditions where fuel stations are scarce.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the TB48DE engine typically ranges from 16.5L/100km on highways to over 20L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are standard at 10,000 km, supported by the most extensive parts and service network in the GCC, ensuring low maintenance downtime. The Y61 Super Safari enjoys exceptional value retention, often depreciating by only 8-10% annually compared to 15% for modern luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 4.8-litre VTC engine delivers a verified 451 Nm of torque, providing the low-end grunt necessary for climbing the tallest dunes in Liwa or the Empty Quarter. Its heavy-duty body-on-frame construction and live axles offer nearly unmatched wheel articulation and durability on rocky wadi terrains. The selectable 4WD system allows for 'on-the-fly' shifting at speeds up to 40 km/h, perfect for transitioning from tarmac to sand.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Super Safari features a powerful GCC-spec air conditioning system with dedicated rear cooling vents that maintain cabin temperatures even in 50°C heat. The seven-seat layout is flexible, with a third row that can be folded to the sides to maximize cargo space for camping gear. The 2020 infotainment update brings modern smartphone integration to the classic wood-trimmed dashboard, blending analog charm with digital necessity.

Safety

Safety is managed via a standard suite including dual front airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and a robust tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The Super Safari trim specifically adds front and rear parking sensors and a high-definition rear camera to assist with the vehicle's large footprint in tight city spaces. Cruise control is standard, providing comfort and speed regulation for long stretches of desert highway.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, high-spec 'VTC' icon that bridges the gap between legendary ruggedness and modern daily usability in the GCC's favorite color.
