Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City is a standout choice in the GCC market, offering the prestige of the Y62 generation with the more fuel-efficient V6 powertrain. At 111,900 km, the mileage is perfectly average for a four-year-old vehicle in this region, where long-distance highway commutes are the norm. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring strong value retention when you decide to upgrade. As the range-topping V6 trim, it bridges the gap between rugged utility and executive luxury, making it an ideal daily driver for families who need the legendary Patrol road presence without the V8 fuel overhead. The single most important consideration for a buyer here is the bulletproof reliability and the massive support network available for the Patrol across every corner of the GCC.

This Car vs Other 2020 Patrols

With 111,900 km on the clock, this Patrol sits exactly where a well-maintained GCC vehicle should be, averaging roughly 28,000 km per year. In a market where many SUVs are driven heavily between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi or across borders to Oman, this mileage represents a vehicle that has been used as intended but not overworked. The black-on-tan color combination is one of the most sought-after pairings in the local used market, which typically commands a faster sale and higher price floor than less traditional colors.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The SE Platinum City trim adds significant luxury over the Titanium and T2 variants, most notably the 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and the 'City Bumper' design that gives it a more sophisticated road presence. Inside, it upgrades the cabin with genuine quilted leather upholstery and adds ventilated front seats—a non-negotiable comfort feature during GCC summers. You also benefit from the 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and a power-adjustable steering column with memory, features usually reserved for the high-end V8 models.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

While the Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is its primary rival, the Patrol SE Platinum City often leads on interior technology and ride comfort thanks to its independent rear suspension. The 140-litre fuel tank is a massive advantage over many American competitors like the Ford Expedition or GMC Yukon, providing significantly more range for long desert highway hauls. Furthermore, the Patrol’s 8-seat configuration offers a more usable third row than the Land Cruiser, making it the preferred choice for larger families across the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 offers a real-world fuel consumption of approximately 11.8 to 15 L/100km depending on your balance of city idling and highway cruising. Maintenance is remarkably straightforward in the GCC, with Nissan's authorized service centers present in every major city from Riyadh to Muscat, and parts available at almost every independent garage. The Patrol historically retains approximately 85-90% of its value after three years in the GCC market, performing significantly better than European luxury SUVs. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and warranty hurdles often associated with North American imports.

Performance & Capability

The 275 hp V6 engine provides a top speed of 200 km/h and is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth highway cruising at low RPMs. Despite being the 'City' trim, it retains full 4WD hardware, including a locking rear differential and 273 mm of ground clearance for weekend desert excursions. It features selectable terrain modes for Sand, On-road, Rock, and Snow, ensuring it can handle a Liwa dune trip as easily as a rain-slicked city highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system with dedicated vents that reach all the way to the third row. The 8-seat layout is upholstered in premium quilted leather, with the front seats offering both heating and cooling to battle the summer heat. Acoustic glass and high-quality insulation keep the interior quiet during high-speed highway drives, while the cooled center console (cool box) is a staple feature for keeping drinks cold during long family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety on the SE Platinum City includes a comprehensive suite of 6 airbags and Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility features. It comes equipped with Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are essential for navigating the fast-moving, multi-lane highways of the UAE and KSA. The 360-degree camera system is particularly useful for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in tight urban parking spaces, while ISOFIX points ensure secure seating for children in the rear rows.

The bottom line

This is the ideal opportunity for a GCC buyer who wants the status and space of a full-option Patrol with the sensible running costs of the V6 engine. It is a turn-key family SUV that is ready for both the daily school run and cross-country expeditions.
