Summary

This 2021 Nissan Armada SL offers a compelling mix of durability and modern tech, sitting at a mileage that is perfectly average for a five-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The Grey exterior is a high-demand, high-resale color in the local market, resisting the visible effects of dust better than darker tones. As a body-on-frame SUV sharing its DNA with the legendary Nissan Patrol, it provides a level of ruggedness that unibody rivals can't match. For the GCC buyer, this model serves as an excellent long-distance cruiser with enough V8 muscle to handle heavy family loads across the emirates. Its combination of a refined 2021 facelift interior and proven mechanicals makes it one of the most practical large SUVs available today.

This Car vs Other 2021 Armadas

With 85,878 km on the odometer, this Armada has been driven approximately 17,000 km per year, which is notably lower than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower usage translates to less wear on the suspension and interior components, providing a mechanical advantage over high-mileage examples often found in this segment. The Grey finish is a strategic choice for the region, offering superior heat reflection and maintaining a stronger resale value than niche colors.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is a significant step up from the base models, adding the essential 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor which is vital for parking a vehicle of this size in tight urban spaces. It also upgrades the cabin with genuine leather-appointed seating, a power-sliding moonroof, and a premium 13-speaker Bose audio system. Buyers also benefit from a power liftgate and remote engine start, a must-have feature for pre-cooling the cabin during the intense summer months.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Armada stands out against competitors like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition by offering a standard V8 engine with higher base horsepower. While rivals often move toward smaller turbocharged engines, the Armada's naturally aspirated 5.6L V8 is prized in the GCC for its predictable power delivery and long-term reliability. Its heavy-duty ladder frame construction provides superior durability for those who occasionally venture onto gravel or soft sand paths.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 engine typically averages around 14–15 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, though highway cruising can see improved efficiency. Nissan's massive service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC ensures that maintenance is straightforward and parts are readily available at competitive prices. While American-spec vehicles generally depreciate faster than GCC-spec equivalents, the Armada's shared parts with the Nissan Patrol help stabilize long-term ownership costs.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the Endurance V8, the Armada produces a robust 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in approximately 6.5 seconds. Its 3,856 kg towing capacity is class-leading, making it ideal for hauling boats or trailers to the coast. The independent double-wishbone suspension provides a composed ride on the E11 highway, while the 234 mm ground clearance ensures it can handle diverse terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with seven seats, featuring a spacious second row and a power-adjustable steering column for optimal driver ergonomics. High-output dual-zone climate control is standard, supplemented by rear air conditioning vents that are essential for passenger comfort in the Gulf heat. The 12.3-inch infotainment display is one of the largest in its class, providing clear navigation and wireless smartphone integration.

Safety

Standard safety tech includes Nissan Safety Shield 360, featuring Blind Spot Intervention and Lane Departure Warning which are particularly useful for multi-lane highway commuting. The Intelligent Forward Collision Warning can see two cars ahead, providing an extra layer of security during sudden traffic stops. This SL trim also includes Trailer Sway Control, which automatically applies brakes to stabilize the vehicle when towing in windy desert conditions.

The bottom line

This Armada is a smart choice for a family looking for a high-spec, V8-powered workhorse with lower-than-average mileage and a resale-friendly color. It offers a premium interior experience at a much more accessible price point than its GCC-spec counterparts.
