Summary

This Land Rover Defender 110 HSE P400 is a highly capable choice for the GCC market, balancing rugged heritage with the premium refinement of the HSE trim. At four years old, its mileage reflects a vehicle that has been consistently utilized for long-distance highway travel, which is common and expected for premium SUVs in this region. The Green exterior remains a high-demand, heritage-inspired color that supports strong resale value in the UAE and wider GCC. Featuring the 400 hp mild-hybrid powertrain, it offers significantly more overtaking confidence on fast-moving motorways than the entry-level four-cylinder models. For the local buyer, this Defender represents a versatile daily driver that is equally prepared for school runs in the city and weekend explorations across the desert.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 110s

With a mileage of 140,000 km over four years, this vehicle has averaged approximately 35,000 km per year, which is above the typical GCC average but common for owners who commute between emirates. The Green exterior is a standout heritage shade that traditionally holds its value better than more experimental colors in the local used market. Buyers will find this specific example well-suited for continued high-mileage highway use given the robust nature of the P400 powertrain.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a substantial leap in luxury over the S and SE variants, most notably adding 14-way heated and cooled Windsor leather seats, which are essential for GCC summers. It also standardizes the opening panoramic sunroof and premium Meridian surround sound system, features that are often optional on lower trims. Additionally, the P400 engine includes a mild-hybrid system that improves low-end torque for smoother city driving compared to the P300.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

Against the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol, the Defender 110 leads with its sophisticated unibody construction, offering superior high-speed stability and cabin refinement on paved roads. Its Terrain Response 2 system provides more automated off-road assistance for novice drivers, while its 900 mm wading depth remains a class-leading figure for flood-prone areas. The compact footprint of the 110 also makes it significantly easier to park in urban centers like Dubai or Riyadh compared to its larger Japanese rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the P400 powertrain typically ranges between 11 L/100km on long highway stretches and 14 L/100km in heavy GCC city traffic. Land Rover offers an extensive authorized service network through Al Tayer in the UAE and Euro Motors in Bahrain, ensuring reliable parts availability across the region. The Defender 110 has demonstrated exceptional value retention in the GCC, typically losing just 10-12% annually, which is significantly lower than many other European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp inline-six engine delivers a 0–100 km/h time of just 6.0 seconds, providing brisk acceleration that belies the vehicle's size. Its electronic air suspension allows the ground clearance to reach a maximum of 291 mm, making it highly effective for navigating deep sand dunes or rocky wadis. The all-wheel-drive system and two-speed transfer case provide the necessary low-range gearing for serious off-road recovery and technical climbs.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for extreme comfort during long desert drives, featuring high-performance air conditioning and ventilated front seats standard on the HSE trim. Acoustic glass helps isolate the five-passenger interior from wind noise during high-speed highway cruising between cities. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is displayed on a high-definition touchscreen, offering seamless wireless connectivity and integrated navigation tailored for regional maps.

Safety

The 2022 Defender 110 carries a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of ADAS technologies. Key features for GCC drivers include blind-spot monitoring for fast-moving multi-lane traffic and adaptive cruise control for long-distance desert transit. The 3D surround camera system with ClearSight Ground View is particularly useful for both tight urban parking and identifying obstacles while off-roading.

The bottom line

This Defender 110 HSE is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking the ultimate balance of off-road hardware and cabin luxury in a heritage-inspired color. It offers a significant performance upgrade over the base models, making it a powerful and prestigious opportunity in the current GCC market.
