Summary

This 2022 Defender 110 Carpathian Edition represents the peak of the original supercharged 5.0L V8 lineage, offering a unique blend of heritage power and modern sophistication. With mileage well under the typical GCC annual average for an SUV of this caliber, it presents a rare opportunity for collectors and performance enthusiasts alike. The exclusive Carpathian styling—featuring a distinctive black-on-black aesthetic with a satin protective film—is highly sought after in the regional used market for its aggressive look and strong resale appeal. Standing as the most capable factory Defender of its era, it effortlessly bridges the gap between high-speed highway cruising and serious off-road exploration. For a GCC buyer, this model combines the prestige of a flagship V8 with the mechanical robustness required to master the extreme heat and varied terrain of the region.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 110s

With just 49,900 km over four years, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen across the GCC. The Black exterior is a top-tier choice for resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets, especially when paired with the factory-applied satin protective film unique to this edition. While many 2022 models feature the four or six-cylinder Ingenium engines, this is the rare supercharged V8, which has seen much slower depreciation due to its status as a high-performance icon.

CARPATHIAN EDITION P525 vs Lower Trims

The Carpathian Edition adds a layer of exclusivity beyond the standard V8 trim, featuring a unique Satin Protective Film that offers a sophisticated matte finish and enhanced protection against sand and gravel. Inside, it upgrades the cabin with a premium Suedecloth steering wheel and unique Robustec accents designed for maximum durability in harsh environments. Unlike the SE or HSE trims, this flagship comes standard with the most advanced off-road hardware, including the Electronic Active Rear Differential and a bespoke suspension tune for improved agility.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Mercedes-AMG G63 or the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, the Defender 110 V8 leads with its sophisticated monocoque chassis that provides superior on-road refinement and high-speed stability on GCC highways. Its class-leading 900 mm wading depth and Terrain Response 2 system offer a level of technical off-road assistance that competitors struggle to match. Additionally, it offers significantly more modern cabin technology and a larger cargo capacity, making it a more practical daily driver than the more utilitarian Wrangler.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L supercharged V8 averages approximately 14.5 L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, reflecting its high-performance nature during city commutes. Maintenance is supported by an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expertise are readily available. Historically, V8-powered Land Rovers hold their value exceptionally well in the regional market, typically retaining a higher percentage of their original price compared to smaller-engine luxury SUVs after the three-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 525 hp supercharged V8 delivers a staggering 625 Nm of torque, allowing this heavy SUV to reach a top speed of 240 km/h with ease. This power translates to effortless overtaking on multi-lane emirate highways and immense torque for climbing steep dunes during desert weekends. The standard air suspension allows the vehicle to raise for 290 mm of ground clearance or lower for improved aerodynamics and easier access in city parking structures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate, featuring highly effective ventilated front seats and a powerful multi-zone climate control system designed to combat 45°C+ summer peaks. Premium materials like Windsor leather and Dinamica suedecloth provide a luxury experience, while the Meridian Surround Sound System ensures crystal-clear audio even at high speeds. Acoustic laminated glass further insulates the interior, keeping the cabin quiet and cool during long cross-border drives.

Safety

This flagship trim includes a comprehensive safety suite as standard, featuring a 360° Surround Camera with 3D perspective which is invaluable for both tight urban parking and navigating tricky off-road obstacles. Active safety technologies like Blind Spot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control are perfectly suited for fast-moving GCC highway traffic. Furthermore, the robust monocoque construction and six-airbag system provide a 5-star safety foundation for family security.

The bottom line

This is a rare, low-mileage example of the ultimate modern Defender, offering the visceral supercharged V8 experience in the most exclusive factory aesthetic available.
