Summary

This 4-year-old Defender 90 is a standout choice for GCC buyers looking for the perfect blend of short-wheelbase agility and 400 hp performance. The silver exterior is one of the most practical choices for the region, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale appeal in the local market. While it excels as a city-friendly SUV, the X-DYNAMIC HSE trim adds the specific off-road hardware needed for serious weekend desert exploration. With its low-range capability and mild-hybrid refinement, it offers a more sophisticated driving experience than its rugged rivals. This specific listing presents a rare opportunity to own the high-output P400 powertrain in the iconic three-door format.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 90s

With 180,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual GCC average, suggesting a life of consistent highway use between emirates. Silver remains a top-tier resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring better value retention than more niche shades. The American specification offers a modern feature set, though buyers should verify service history with local specialists to ensure peak mechanical health.

X-DYNAMIC HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The X-DYNAMIC HSE is a significant step up from the base S and SE trims, introducing more aggressive exterior styling with gloss black accents and durable Resist seats. Crucially, the P400 powertrain brings a 3.0L inline-six mild-hybrid engine that produces 400 hp, compared to the 296 hp found in the entry-level P300. This trim also adds premium touches like the Meridian sound system and configurable cabin lighting that enhance the luxury feel during long highway commutes.

Defender 90 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon or Ford Bronco, the Defender 90 offers superior on-road refinement and a vastly more luxurious cabin that rivals Range Rover standards. Its air suspension provides a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, allowing it to navigate terrain that challenges fixed-suspension competitors. While the Wrangler is a dedicated off-roader, the Land Rover's 900 mm wading depth and Terrain Response 2 system make it the more versatile choice for GCC weather extremes.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the P400 averages around 13.0 L/100km, reflecting the blocky aerodynamics and powerful engine required for GCC highway speeds. The 88.5-litre fuel tank provides a practical range for long-distance drives from Dubai to Muscat or across Saudi Arabia. Authorized service centers are widely available throughout the UAE and major GCC cities, with standard intervals recommended every 13,000 km. While Land Rovers face higher depreciation than Japanese rivals, the 90 body style in high-spec trims remains a highly sought-after enthusiast model in the secondary market.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp turbocharged inline-six engine delivers a brisk 0–100 km/h time of 6.0 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. Its short wheelbase grants a superior 31-degree breakover angle, making it exceptionally capable in technical dune driving where longer SUVs might bottom out. The permanent All-Wheel Drive system and dual-range transfer case ensure that this vehicle is as capable in the deep sands of Liwa as it is refined on the streets of Downtown Dubai.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for premium comfort in extreme heat, featuring high-quality insulation and a powerful climate control system essential for the GCC summer. The interior layout feels expansive for a three-door, with ample legroom for rear passengers and a sophisticated 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen. Acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet environment, shielding occupants from wind noise during high-speed desert crossings.

Safety

Standard safety features include a 360-degree surround camera with ClearSight Ground View, which is invaluable for both tight urban parking and navigating rocky off-road trails. The suite includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, providing essential support during long desert highway drives. Active stability control and emergency braking systems are standard, ensuring a high level of protection for all five occupants across varied terrains.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who needs a city-sized SUV with genuine desert pedigree, this high-performance Defender 90 in a high-resale color represents a sharp opportunity in the current market.
