Summary

This 2022 Nissan Armada SL offers a refined balance of heavy-duty capability and premium family comfort, ideal for the demanding driving environments of the GCC. With under 60,000 km, its mileage sits below the local average for a large SUV, presenting a long-term ownership advantage. The SL trim bridges the gap between utility and luxury, providing leather-appointed seating and advanced technology that rivals the Platinum grade. Its V8 powertrain is perfectly suited for long-distance highway cruises between Emirates or crossing borders into neighboring GCC states. For the buyer who needs a massive interior without the extreme price premium of a Land Cruiser, this Armada remains a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2022 Armadas

With 59,388 km on the odometer, this Armada has been driven roughly 20,000 km per year, which is slightly below the typical 25,000 km average seen for large family SUVs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, showing less desert dust than black while maintaining a stronger resale profile than niche colors. As a 2022 model, it benefits from the updated 12.3-inch infotainment screen, making it feel significantly more modern than 2020 or older versions.

SL vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the SL trim from the SV adds several high-value features that GCC buyers prioritize, most notably the 13-speaker Bose premium audio system and the Intelligent Around View Monitor (360-degree camera). You also gain genuine leather-appointed seating, a power moonroof, and a power liftgate, which are often considered essential for luxury SUV resale in the local market. The addition of 20-inch wheels gives it a more commanding presence on the road compared to the 18-inch wheels found on the base trims.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Armada leads its primary rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser, in standard V8 power and seating capacity, offering 8 seats where many rivals max out at 7. Its 100-liter fuel tank is specifically engineered for long-haul desert highway stretches, providing a cruising range that few crossovers can match. While the Chevrolet Tahoe offers similar space, the Armada's interior refinement and standard safety tech often provide a more complete package for the price.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 is a reliable workhorse, though it is 'thirsty' in stop-start city traffic; however, it settles into an efficient rhythm during highway cruising at 120 km/h. Nissan boasts one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. While Japanese SUVs generally hold their value well, the Armada offers a lower entry price than the Land Cruiser, resulting in less total capital depreciation over the first three years of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 390 hp V8 engine delivers 534 Nm of torque, enabling a class-leading towing capacity of 3,855 kg, perfect for hauling large boats or trailers. Despite being Rear Wheel Drive, its 233 mm of ground clearance allows it to navigate gravel tracks and wadi edges with ease during weekend escapes. The 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth power delivery, making highway overtaking effortless even when the cabin is at its full 8-passenger capacity.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the SL trim focuses on thermal comfort with a powerful dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear vents that are essential for the 45°C+ GCC summers. The acoustic glass and heavy insulation provide a whisper-quiet cabin, isolating passengers from road noise during long drives between cities. Family logistics are simplified by the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and a flat-folding third row that expands cargo space to nearly 2,700 liters.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the SL trim, featuring Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The standard 360-degree camera system is particularly useful for maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking spots. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning provide an extra layer of security and comfort during long, monotonous highway drives across the desert.

The bottom line

This Armada is the perfect match for a large family seeking a high-spec, V8-powered SUV with manageable mileage and a premium cabin. It represents a smart alternative to more expensive rivals, offering the same level of GCC-ready durability and comfort at a significantly better value point.
