Summary

This 2021 Nissan Patrol Super Safari is a definitive choice for GCC buyers, combining a highly desirable white exterior with the legendary 'VTC' mechanical purity. With 91,000 km, the mileage is slightly above the typical annual average but reflects the reliable long-distance highway use these body-on-frame SUVs are designed for. Unlike its turbocharged modern rivals, the Super Safari offers a tactile, rugged driving experience that holds immense cultural value and prestige across the region. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it remains the gold standard for desert-ready durability and ease of maintenance in local conditions. This specific listing presents a well-maintained example of a trim that has historically commanded the strongest value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets.

This Car vs Other 2021 Patrols

At 91,000 km, this vehicle has been used more than the showroom-queen examples but sits comfortably within the expectations for a high-utility 4x4 in the GCC. The white exterior is the most popular choice in the local market, offering superior heat reflection and the highest resale liquidity compared to darker tones. While newer Y62 models focus on digital luxury, this Y61-generation Super Safari is sought after specifically for its mechanical longevity.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim represents the peak of the Safari lineup, adding premium brown leather upholstery and electric seat adjustments that are absent in the standard Safari or GL trims. It features unique aesthetic touches like the grey fender flares and heritage decals, alongside a built-in electric winch and navigation system. Crucially, it retains the rear differential lock as standard, a must-have for serious desert driving.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Super Safari leads its main rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series, by offering a significantly more refined cabin experience and a larger 175-liter total fuel capacity for long desert expeditions. Its 4.8-liter inline-6 engine is widely considered smoother for highway cruising than the V6 equivalents in the segment. Furthermore, the Patrol’s coil-spring suspension provides better ride quality on-road than the leaf-sprung competitors often found in this category.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the TB48DE engine typically ranges between 17 and 19 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, reflecting its heavy-duty focus rather than efficiency. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and parts availability is among the best in the region through Nissan's massive authorized network. This trim suffers from very low annual depreciation in the UAE, often retaining over 80% of its value after three years due to its cult status.

Performance & Capability

The legendary 4.8L engine delivers 280 hp and 451 Nm of torque, known locally as the 'VTC' for its Valve Timing Control that provides linear power across the rev range. It features a heavy-duty 4WD system with a low-range transfer case and a 215mm ground clearance, making it one of the most capable vehicles for crossing deep soft-sand dunes. The automatic transmission is geared for durability, ensuring reliable performance even during the peak of the GCC summer heat.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Super Safari is configured as a 7-seater with premium leather and wood-grain trim that stands up well to the harsh regional climate. The air conditioning system is famously powerful, featuring dedicated rear vents to keep all three rows cool during 45°C+ summer days. Convenience features like cruise control and a sunroof make it a surprisingly comfortable companion for long cross-border drives between Emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed through a robust body-on-frame construction and a suite of essential features including dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). For technical driving, it includes a rear-view camera and parking sensors to assist in tight urban spaces. The mechanical stability of its 4WD system provides added confidence when navigating unpredictable surfaces like gravel or wind-blown sand on desert highways.

The bottom line

This Super Safari is the ideal opportunity for an enthusiast or family looking for a reliable, desert-conquering icon with the best resale prospects in the GCC market.
