Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol LE PLATINUM represents the absolute gold standard for family transportation and executive presence in the GCC. With the powerful 5.6L V8 engine delivering 400 horsepower, it offers the perfect balance of highway cruising refinement and legendary desert-taming capability. This specific listing is a standout because it features the highly desirable black exterior, which commands a premium in the regional resale market and offers a more sophisticated look than the common white alternatives. Having covered 72,000 km, it sits in a sweet spot of its lifecycle, having already moved past the initial steep depreciation curve while remaining mechanically fresh and ready for years of service. For a buyer in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the most critical consideration is the peace of mind provided by its GCC specification, ensuring the cooling system and air conditioning are engineered to handle 50-degree summers without compromise. This is a vehicle designed specifically for the unique demands of the Middle East, offering a level of reliability and prestige that few competitors can match.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

When looking at the 2022 model year, this vehicle sits at a mileage point of 72,000 km, which is perfectly aligned with the GCC average of roughly 25,000 km per year. While some examples on the market may have lower numbers, they often come with a significantly higher price tag without offering a tangible difference in mechanical health, given how robust this V8 powertrain is. This car benefits from being the LE PLATINUM trim, which is the most sought-after configuration in the used market, ensuring it will always be easier to sell later than the XE or SE variants. The black exterior is a major advantage here; in a market saturated with white SUVs, a well-maintained black Patrol stands out as a more exclusive and premium choice, often fetching a quicker sale. Furthermore, as a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the hidden risks associated with imported American or Japanese models, such as compromised cooling systems or lack of local warranty history. Choosing this specific unit means you are getting a verified, regionally-optimized vehicle that has been driven exactly as intended for its age.

LE PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the LE PLATINUM trim transforms the Nissan Patrol from a capable workhorse into a genuine luxury sanctuary. Unlike the SE or base LE models, the PLATINUM adds essential premium features that GCC buyers prioritize, such as the 13-speaker Bose premium sound system that provides concert-quality audio even at highway speeds. You also gain the quilted semi-aniline leather seats which are not just more comfortable, but significantly more durable under the intense heat of the region compared to standard leather or cloth. This trim includes the vital ventilated front seats, a feature that becomes a daily necessity during the long summer months in the Emirates or Kuwait. The 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection is also standard here, making parking this 5-meter-long SUV in tight city malls a stress-free experience. Finally, the inclusion of 22-inch machine-cut alloy wheels gives this trim a far more commanding road presence than the smaller wheels found on lower grades.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Patrol competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and the Chevrolet Tahoe, yet it carves out a unique position by offering a more supple ride quality and a more traditional luxury interior. Its 5.6L V8 is often preferred by enthusiasts over the newer turbocharged V6 engines found in some rivals because of its linear power delivery and proven longevity in high-heat environments. With a massive 140-liter fuel tank, the Patrol offers a significantly longer highway range than many competitors, making it the preferred choice for those who frequently drive between cities like Dubai and Muscat. The interior cabin width also beats out European rivals like the BMW X7, providing genuine 8-passenger capacity where others feel cramped in the third row. Additionally, the Nissan's air conditioning system is widely regarded by GCC residents as the most powerful in the segment, capable of cooling the entire cabin in a fraction of the time it takes for American or European competitors. This combination of range, cooling, and space makes it the definitive choice for the regional lifestyle.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Nissan Patrol in the GCC is one of the safest financial decisions an automotive buyer can make. These vehicles experience some of the lowest depreciation rates in the world here, typically retaining up to 80-85% of their value after three years, whereas European luxury SUVs might lose nearly half. The 5.6L V8 engine is designed to run efficiently on 95 or 98 octane fuel, and while it is a large-displacement engine, its highway fuel economy is surprisingly respectable during steady cruises across the Emirates. Service intervals are every 10,000 km, and with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the world spanning from Jeddah to Abu Dhabi, finding parts or expert technicians is never an issue. This widespread availability of parts also keeps out-of-warranty maintenance costs significantly lower than those for Land Rover or Mercedes-Benz products. In the GCC, a GCC-spec Nissan is effectively 'as good as cash' due to how quickly they sell on the secondary market, providing you with excellent liquidity whenever you decide to upgrade.

Performance & Capability

At the heart of this vehicle is the legendary 5.6-liter V8 engine producing 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, allowing this massive SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds. This performance is particularly useful for safe overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11, where merging into 140 km/h traffic requires immediate power. Off the tarmac, the Patrol is a beast, equipped with a sophisticated All-Mode 4WD system that includes dedicated modes for Sand, On-Road, Snow, and Rock. The rear differential lock and low-range gearing mean that even as a luxury LE PLATINUM model, it is fully capable of tackling the big dunes of Liwa or the rocky wadis of Hatta. The Hydraulic Body Motion Control system is a standout feature of this trim, acting like an active suspension to reduce body roll in corners while providing maximum wheel travel off-road. Whether you are towing a heavy boat trailer or navigating a weekend camping trip, the Patrol provides a sense of indestructible capability that few other vehicles can emulate.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the LE PLATINUM is a masterclass in accommodating large families without sacrificing personal space. With 8 seats across three rows, it allows for a variety of configurations, and even with the third row in use, there is still ample room for groceries or weekend bags. The interior is whisper-quiet thanks to extensive sound insulation and acoustic glass, which is essential for maintaining comfort during long-distance drives across the desert. The tri-zone climate control system allows the driver, front passenger, and rear passengers to set their own temperatures, with ceiling-mounted vents ensuring that even those in the very back remain cool in the peak of July. The dual 8-inch and 7-inch touchscreens in the center console provide seamless connectivity, while the rear-seat entertainment system keeps children occupied on cross-border road trips. Every touchpoint, from the soft leather-wrapped steering wheel to the wood-grain trim, reinforces the feeling that you are in a premium flagship vehicle.

Safety

Safety in the LE PLATINUM is comprehensive, featuring the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite which acts as an extra set of eyes on the road. The Intelligent Forward Collision Warning can monitor two cars ahead, giving you crucial seconds to react to sudden braking in fast-moving highway traffic. This trim also includes Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot Intervention, which are particularly helpful for managing the multi-lane highways common in major GCC cities. For long drives between emirates, the Intelligent Cruise Control maintains a safe distance from the car in front, significantly reducing driver fatigue. Passive safety is equally strong, with a reinforced body structure and a full curtain airbag system that protects passengers in all three rows. Unlike many other SUVs where these features are expensive options, this PLATINUM trim includes them as standard, ensuring your family is protected by the most advanced tech Nissan offers.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the ultimate blend of prestige, family utility, and go-anywhere capability, this 2022 Nissan Patrol LE PLATINUM is the perfect choice. It offers the high-resale value and reliability of a Japanese icon with the features of a luxury limousine, making it the most sensible and rewarding investment for a driver in the GCC.
