Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol XE represents the most practical entry point into the legendary world of the 'Hero of All Terrains' in the GCC. Despite the high mileage, these vehicles are engineered for extreme longevity, often surpassing half a million kilometers with regular maintenance at authorized service centers across the region. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after, professional shade that maintains a strong resale profile in the UAE and Saudi Arabian markets. Powered by the reliable 4.0L V6, this SUV balances daily urban drivability with the rugged capability required for weekend desert excursions. Choosing a GCC-spec Patrol ensures that the cooling systems and powertrain are specifically tuned to handle the intense summer heat typical of the region. This particular listing is an ideal choice for large families or fleet operators looking for a modern, reliable full-size SUV that holds its value better than almost any other vehicle in its class.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

While many 2022 models in the market feature lower odometer readings, this vehicle’s mileage is a testament to its mechanical resilience and its primary use for long-distance highway travel between emirates. In the GCC, high mileage on a modern Nissan Patrol is often seen as evidence of a well-maintained highway cruiser rather than a stressed city car, especially when the vehicle originates from a local regional specification. The Grey paintwork offers a distinct advantage over more common white variants, providing a premium look that hides road dust effectively during the Shamal season. Buyers will find that the interior and exterior condition of this 2022 model remain competitive, reflecting the high build quality Nissan integrates into its flagship SUV. This car offers the latest Y62 series aesthetic and technology at a price point that acknowledges its high usage, making it a high-value acquisition for those who prioritize the model year and platform over low numbers on the dashboard.

XE vs Lower Trims

The XE serves as the essential foundation of the Nissan Patrol lineup, but it is far from basic, offering a suite of features that GCC buyers value for daily comfort. Unlike lower-tier or basic commercial SUVs, the XE trim includes the sophisticated All-Mode 4x4 system as standard, allowing for seamless transitions between sand, rock, and pavement. It features 18-inch alloy wheels that provide a more cushioned ride over speed bumps and gravel compared to the larger wheels found on higher trims. Inside, you get a high-output air conditioning system with independent rear controls, a critical feature for the 50-degree Celsius summers in the UAE and Kuwait. The XE also includes keyless entry with push-button start and front and rear parking sensors, ensuring that even this entry-level trim feels modern and convenient. For the GCC buyer, the XE is often the preferred choice for those who intend to customize their vehicle or require a rugged, dependable family hauler without the unnecessary complexity of hydraulic suspension systems found in top-tier trims.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Patrol consistently leads its primary rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser, in terms of interior volume and on-road ride comfort. With a massive fuel tank capacity, the Patrol is better suited for long-range desert crossings and cross-border travel from the UAE to Oman or Saudi Arabia without frequent refueling stops. Compared to American rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe or Ford Expedition, the Patrol offers a more robust mechanical 4WD system that is specifically designed for the soft sands of the Liwa and Fossil Rock dunes. Its 275 hp V6 engine provides a more efficient alternative to the V8s in the segment while still delivering enough torque for heavy-duty towing and steep inclines. The 8-seat configuration is also more spacious in the third row than many European luxury crossovers, making it a genuine family vehicle rather than a 5+2 compromise. The widespread availability of parts for this model across every corner of the GCC gives it a logistical edge that no other brand can match.

Running Costs & Resale

The Nissan Patrol boasts one of the lowest depreciation rates in the global automotive market, specifically within the GCC where it is considered a 'blue-chip' asset. You can expect this vehicle to retain a significant portion of its value even as the mileage continues to climb, as demand for the Y62 platform remains voracious in the used market. Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 is approximately 11.8 L/100km on the highway, though city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic will see this increase. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and the cost of ownership is kept low by the sheer abundance of both OEM and high-quality aftermarket parts. Authorized service centers like Al Masaood or Arabian Automobiles provide extensive coverage, ensuring that warranty-compliant maintenance is never more than a short drive away. Historically, a three-year-old Patrol XE retains up to 75% of its original value, outperforming almost all European and American competitors in the same segment.

Performance & Capability

Performance in the Nissan Patrol XE is defined by its 275 hp V6 engine which delivers smooth, linear power through a 7-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is legendary for its ability to operate in extreme heat without overheating, a common failure point for turbocharged engines in the region. The All-Wheel Drive system features a dedicated 4-Low mode and a locking rear differential, providing the mechanical grip needed to navigate deep sand or muddy wadis. With a ground clearance of 273 mm, the Patrol easily clears obstacles that would stop a standard crossover in its tracks. The 0-100 km/h sprint is handled with surprising agility for a vehicle of this size, making highway overtaking effortless. It also features a substantial towing capacity, allowing you to haul jet skis or camping trailers for weekend adventures. The suspension is tuned specifically for the GCC, offering a 'magic carpet' ride that irons out road imperfections on the long stretches of highway between cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the 2022 Patrol XE is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh outdoor environment, featuring an 8-seat layout that comfortably accommodates large families. Nissan’s 'Zero Gravity' inspired seats reduce fatigue during long-distance drives across the desert, while the premium cloth upholstery remains cool to the touch even when parked in the sun. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as the best in its class, featuring a massive compressor and strategically placed vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling. Sound insulation is excellent, keeping the roar of wind and tires at bay during high-speed cruising on the E11 highway. Storage is plentiful throughout the cabin, with large door pockets and a center console designed to hold large water bottles. The XE trim maintains a clean, functional aesthetic that focuses on durability and ease of use, making it ideal for families with children or those who use their vehicle for outdoor hobbies.

Safety

Safety in the 2022 Nissan Patrol XE is comprehensive, utilizing a reinforced body structure designed to protect occupants in all terrain types. Standard features include dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags that extend to all three rows, providing peace of mind for family transport. The vehicle is equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control, which are essential for maintaining stability on slippery sand or during sudden maneuvers on the highway. Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control provide additional confidence when navigating the steep dunes of the UAE or the mountainous terrain of Jebel Hafeet. The braking system is reinforced with ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) to ensure consistent stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded with eight passengers and luggage. Furthermore, the high seating position provides the driver with exceptional visibility, a passive safety benefit that is highly valued in the fast-moving traffic of the GCC.

The bottom line

This 2022 Nissan Patrol XE is the perfect match for a pragmatic buyer who wants the prestige and capability of a modern Patrol at a significantly accessible price point. Its GCC-spec pedigree and proven V6 reliability make it a safe, long-term investment for anyone needing a dependable family workhorse that will still command a strong price when it is time to upgrade.
