Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol SAFARI represents a unique opportunity to own a modern legend that remains the preferred choice for serious GCC off-roaders and collectors alike. With mileage significantly below the regional annual average of 25,000 km, this vehicle has barely been broken in and promises years of reliable service across the Emirates and beyond. The iconic white exterior is not just a aesthetic choice but the most practical color for the intense Gulf sun, ensuring it commands the highest possible resale value in the local market. Powered by the legendary 4.8L TB48DE inline-six engine, this model offers a mechanical purity and ruggedness that modern electronic-heavy SUVs simply cannot match. For the buyer who values bulletproof reliability, desert-conquering capability, and a vehicle that holds its value like gold in the GCC, this specific SAFARI is the definitive choice. It stands out from the competition by offering a timeless design backed by the most extensive service network in the region.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

When comparing this specific unit to other 2022 models on the market, the primary advantage is the exceptionally low mileage. In the GCC, where 25,000 km per year is the standard due to frequent long-distance commutes between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this vehicle has covered less than half the distance of a typical four-year-old SUV. The white exterior paint is the most sought-after color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as it reflects heat better than darker tones and hides the fine dust common in the desert environment, which directly correlates to better paint preservation. Being a GCC-spec model, it comes with the heavy-duty cooling systems and air conditioning units specifically engineered to handle the 50-degree summer peaks that import-spec cars often struggle with. This vehicle has been maintained with the regional climate in mind, ensuring all seals, gaskets, and rubber components remain in peak condition despite the heat. Choosing this low-mileage example ensures you are getting a mechanical platform that is essentially in its prime, avoiding the wear and tear typically seen on high-mileage desert cruisers.

SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The SAFARI trim is the top-tier manifestation of the legendary Y61 platform, offering significant upgrades over the standard Hardtop or entry-level models. It features the specialized 'Super Safari' styling cues and interior enhancements that signify its status as a premium rugged explorer, including the distinctive wide-fender arches and high-quality upholstery. Unlike lower trims, the SAFARI comes equipped with essential off-road hardware such as the rear differential lock and the heavy-duty pintle hook, which are vital for desert recovery and towing. Inside, the cabin receives more refined finishes and a more robust climate control system designed to push cold air effectively to all seven passengers. The inclusion of the electric winch on many SAFARI configurations and the upgraded tire carrier setup adds a layer of functionality that saves owners thousands in aftermarket modifications. It is a trim that prioritizes both the driver's comfort on long highway stretches and the vehicle's unstoppable nature once the tires hit the sand.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Patrol SAFARI occupies a unique space in the GCC market, primarily competing with the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series and the Jeep Wrangler. While the Land Cruiser 70-series offers similar durability, the Patrol SAFARI provides a significantly more comfortable interior and a smoother ride on paved roads thanks to its coil-spring suspension setup. Compared to the Jeep Wrangler, the Patrol offers a much larger 7-seat capacity and a significantly higher fuel tank volume, which is a critical advantage for long-range expeditions across the Empty Quarter where petrol stations are sparse. The 4.8L engine is famous for its torque delivery, which many GCC drivers prefer over the smaller displacement engines found in modern European rivals. Furthermore, the Patrol’s cabin volume and boot space are vastly superior to almost any other dedicated off-roader in its class, making it the only choice for a family that refuses to compromise on adventure. Its reputation for 'sand-swimming' ability is unmatched, often outperforming much more expensive modern SUVs in deep dune crossings.

Running Costs & Resale

The Nissan Patrol SAFARI is world-renowned for having some of the lowest depreciation rates in the global automotive market, specifically within the GCC. A well-maintained SAFARI can often retain up to 85% of its value after three years, outperforming almost all luxury SUVs which typically see much steeper declines. Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L engine reflects its high-displacement nature, averaging around 14-16L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, though its massive fuel tank ensures a long cruising range between fills. Maintenance is incredibly straightforward and cost-effective; because this platform has been in production for decades, parts are available in every corner of the GCC, from major cities to remote villages. Authorized Nissan service centers are ubiquitous across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman, ensuring that professional support is never far away. The engine is designed to run perfectly on standard 95-octane fuel, and its mechanical simplicity means that long-term repair costs are significantly lower than those of turbocharged or hybrid competitors. For a GCC buyer, this represents one of the safest financial placements in the automotive world.

Performance & Capability

At the heart of this SAFARI is the 4.8-liter VTC engine, a powerhouse capable of producing 280 hp and 420 Nm of torque, specifically tuned for low-end grunt. This torque is essential for maintaining momentum in soft sand and for confident overtaking on high-speed motorways like the E11. The vehicle features a genuine 4-Low transfer case and a manual override for the automatic transmission, giving the driver total control over the power delivery in challenging terrain. With a class-leading ground clearance of over 210 mm and impressive approach and departure angles, there are very few obstacles in the GCC landscape that this vehicle cannot navigate. It is also an exceptional towing platform, capable of hauling heavy trailers or jet-ski rigs with ease across long distances. The heavy-duty suspension is built to soak up the corrugated tracks of the desert while remaining stable during high-speed highway cruising. Whether you are climbing the heights of Jebel Hafeet or navigating the technical dunes of Liwa, the performance of the SAFARI remains consistent and cooling-efficient even in the peak of summer.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the 2022 SAFARI is designed as a sanctuary from the harsh outdoor environment of the Middle East. It comfortably seats seven passengers across three rows, with the rear air conditioning vents being a standout feature that ensures every passenger stays cool regardless of the outside temperature. The cabin is surprisingly quiet at highway speeds, thanks to extensive insulation that keeps the roar of the 4.8L engine to a dull hum. The seating is upholstered in durable materials that are easy to clean after a weekend in the sand, yet soft enough for a five-hour road trip to Salalah. Storage is plentiful, and with the third row folded, the boot space is massive, easily accommodating camping gear, recovery equipment, or a large family’s weekly shopping. The dashboard layout is intuitive and rugged, featuring large tactile buttons that are easy to operate even while driving off-road. It provides a commanding view of the road, giving the driver a sense of security and presence that is a hallmark of the Patrol brand.

Safety

Safety in the Nissan Patrol SAFARI is built upon a high-strength ladder-frame chassis that provides a robust protective shell for all occupants. This trim includes standard dual front airbags and an advanced Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) that is calibrated for both high-speed tarmac stops and loose-surface braking. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are essential for GCC drivers, providing early warnings before the heat affects tire integrity during long desert drives. The specialized braking system is designed to resist fade even when descending steep mountain passes or towing heavy loads in high temperatures. Standard halogen headlamps provide a broad, reliable beam pattern that is crucial for navigating unlit desert roads at night. While it skips the over-complicated electronic sensors of modern city crossovers, it provides the mechanical safety and reliability that experienced GCC drivers trust when heading far off the beaten path.

The bottom line

This is the perfect vehicle for the traditionalist who wants the reliability of a legend with the low-mileage freshness of a late-model car. Given its iconic status and impeccable resale value in the GCC, this white SAFARI is as much a smart financial investment as it is a world-class off-road companion.
