Summary

This Nissan Patrol Super Safari is a 4-year-old icon that bridges the gap between legendary ruggedness and essential modern comfort. With 80,000 km, this unit has been driven exactly at the expected GCC annual average, ensuring it's mechanically seasoned without being over-taxed. The crisp White exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the region, offering maximum heat reflection and strong value retention. Unlike modern unibody SUVs, this Y61-generation classic remains a favorite for its mechanical purity and unmatched ability to handle the UAE's deepest dunes. It represents a final opportunity to own a brand-new iteration of a desert legend before the platform's inevitable evolution.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

With 80,000 km on the clock, this Super Safari matches the typical GCC usage profile of 20,000 km per year. While many 2022 models have been heavily modified for extreme dune bashing, this example maintains its factory integrity. The White paintwork is a significant advantage for local resale, consistently commanding higher demand than darker shades in the used market.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim adds the high-output 4.8L engine with Valve Timing Control (VTC), providing the low-end torque that the base GL lacks. Inside, you receive tan leather upholstery, a refrigerated cool box for the summer heat, and wood-grain trim that defines the cabin's classic aesthetic. It also comes standard with an electric front winch and rear locking differentials, features that are often only optional or aftermarket on lower Safari grades.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Super Safari leads rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series in high-speed highway stability thanks to its coil-spring suspension, whereas competitors often stick to leaf springs. Its dual-tank system, totaling 135 litres, provides a superior touring range for cross-border GCC road trips. While modern SUVs prioritize touchscreens, the Patrol wins on mechanical repairability in remote desert areas.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically hovers around 17L/100km, though the large dual tanks mitigate frequent stops. Maintenance is straightforward across the GCC, with Nissan's authorized service network being one of the most extensive from Dubai to Riyadh. The Y61 platform has a cult-like following in the UAE, resulting in depreciation rates that are significantly lower than European luxury SUVs, typically retaining high value even as mileage increases.

Performance & Capability

The 4.8L TB48DE inline-six engine is celebrated for its linear power delivery and nearly 451 Nm of torque, making it a natural at dune climbing. The 5-speed automatic includes a manual mode for precise gear holding in the sand, while the body-on-frame construction provides the durability needed for corrugated wadi tracks. With a factory-standard rear diff lock, this vehicle is ready for technical off-roading straight from the lot.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is purpose-built for the GCC, featuring a powerful A/C system with dedicated rear vents to combat 45°C summers. The 7-seat layout includes a foldable third row for increased cargo space during camping trips, and the built-in cool box keeps drinks chilled on long highway hauls. Tan leather and a sunroof elevate the interior feel, providing a touch of luxury without sacrificing the vehicle's utilitarian roots.

Safety

Standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to maintain stability on loose surfaces. The inclusion of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a vital addition for GCC drivers who frequently deflate tires for desert excursions and reinflate for highway speeds. Cruise control is also standard, assisting with driver fatigue on the long, straight desert highways between emirates.

The bottom line

This is the perfect match for the GCC enthusiast who wants the 'King of the Desert' in its most refined factory form. At 80,000 km in the best resale color, it offers a secure investment and an adventure-ready platform that most modern SUVs simply cannot replicate.
