Summary

This Nissan Patrol is a compelling buy for families who prioritize the iconic presence and space of a Y62 without the higher running costs of the V8. Finished in Grey, a color known for excellent heat reflection and high resale demand in the GCC, this 2022 model represents the latest iteration of the current generation. The SE Platinum City trim is particularly desirable as it bridges the gap between rugged utility and high-end luxury, offering the sophisticated 'City' bumper design that is favored by urban buyers in Dubai and Riyadh. For a GCC owner, the combination of a massive 140-litre fuel tank and a refined V6 makes it one of the most practical long-distance cruisers for cross-emirate travel. This vehicle provides the status and off-road capability the region demands with a more sensible maintenance profile.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

With 80,000 km, this vehicle is aligned with the average GCC annual usage of roughly 25,000 km, suggesting it has been used consistently for highway travel rather than harsh stop-start city commutes. The Grey exterior is a significant advantage for resale, as it is one of the three most sought-after colors in the UAE and Saudi markets. While many 2022 models are base XE trims, this Platinum City unit offers the premium aesthetic and tech suite that typically helps it hold value better over a 5-year ownership cycle.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim is a major step up from the SE Titanium and SE T2, most notably adding the 3D Around View Monitor (360° camera) and the sculpted 'City' front bumper. Inside, it replaces standard materials with genuine quilted leather upholstery and adds essential GCC climate features like ventilated front seats and a power-adjustable steering column with memory. It also includes the premium 13-speaker Bose sound system and larger 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels that give it a more executive presence on the road.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (4.0L), the Patrol offers a significantly larger 140-litre fuel tank, which is a decisive factor for long desert highway runs where fuel stops are sparse. It also leads in interior volume and third-row accessibility, making it a more comfortable choice for 8-passenger family logistics. While the Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Tahoe offer similar space, the Patrol’s body-on-frame durability and superior GCC-wide service network give it a clear edge in long-term reliability and parts availability.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 14.2 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though heavy stop-start traffic in Riyadh or Dubai can see this rise to 17 L/100km. Nissan's authorized service network is one of the most extensive in the region, with service centers available in almost every major city across the UAE, KSA, and Kuwait. The Patrol historically retains approximately 75-80% of its value after three years in the GCC, outperforming almost every European rival in the same size category.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 produces 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and unhurried power delivery that is ideal for long-distance cruising at 120 km/h. Its all-wheel-drive system includes a low-range transfer case and selectable terrain modes (Sand, Rock, Snow, and Road), ensuring it is fully capable of weekend desert excursions. The body-on-frame construction and 273 mm of ground clearance allow it to handle rugged terrain that would compromise a standard unibody crossover.

Comfort & Cabin

The 8-seat cabin is specifically engineered for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring a high-output multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that reach all three rows. The Platinum City trim includes a factory-integrated cool box in the center console, essential for keeping beverages chilled during the summer months. Quilted leather seats with ventilation ensure front passengers remain comfortable even in 45°C+ temperatures, while acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet environment on the highway.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a full suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Braking which are vital for high-speed highway safety. It also features Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert to help navigate large vehicle blind spots in busy city traffic. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, and the 360-degree Around View Monitor for precise parking in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

This 2022 Patrol SE Platinum City is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the full luxury 'Big Patrol' experience and legendary reliability with more manageable fuel costs. It is a high-spec, GCC-ready workhorse that offers the perfect balance of prestige and practicality.
