Nissan Patrol LE PLATINUM

Highlights

• 400 hp from a 5.6-litre V8
• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• 13-speaker Bose audio system standard

Summary

This 2021 LE Platinum represents the high-spec sweet spot for the V8 Patrol, finished in white—the region's most resilient color for resale value. With the legendary 5.6L engine providing effortless highway overtaking and desert grunt, it offers a mechanical soul that the newer V6 models can't quite replicate. Despite the mileage, these VK56 powerplants are famous in the GCC for reaching 300,000 km with ease when properly maintained. For the buyer who values long-distance comfort and proven reliability across the Emirates, this trim delivers the essential luxury features without the complexity of higher air-suspension grades. It remains a definitive choice for anyone needing a true eight-seater capable of crossing borders or dunes with equal poise.

This Car vs Other 2021 Patrols

At 165,000 km, this vehicle has been used as a genuine long-distance GCC cruiser, reflecting the typical high-mileage highway life of a regional flagship. While the mileage is higher than the average city commuter, it is framed by a white exterior that is the gold standard for heat reflection and resale liquidity in the UAE. Buyers often prefer these highway-driven V8s as they typically suffer less wear on the transmission and cooling systems than stop-start city vehicles.

LE Platinum vs Lower Trims

The LE Platinum is a significant step up from the Titanium and SE grades, most notably adding the premium 13-speaker Bose audio system and a 360-degree Around View Monitor. It also features upgraded quilted leather upholstery and ventilated front seats, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer months. Unlike the base V6 models, this trim includes the full-power 5.6L V8 engine as standard equipment.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads the Toyota Land Cruiser 200/300 series in terms of on-road refinement and interior cabin space, offering a more cushioned ride thanks to its sophisticated independent suspension. Its 140-litre fuel capacity is a massive advantage for long desert crossings or trips from Dubai to Muscat, providing significantly more range than most European luxury SUV rivals. While competitors like the Chevrolet Tahoe offer similar space, they lack the Patrol's legendary status and specialized high-heat cooling capacity standard on GCC specs.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 is a thirsty but reliable performer, typically returning between 16–19 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Maintenance is straightforward, with a massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensuring parts are always available. Historically, the V8 Patrol holds its value better than almost any other vehicle in its class, with depreciation typically averaging a stable 8–10% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque, this SUV handles its 2.7-ton weight with surprising agility, reaching 100 km/h in approximately 6.6 seconds. Its All-Mode 4WD system is specifically tuned for regional sand conditions, featuring a rear differential lock and a low-range transfer case for serious off-roading. The 3,500 kg braked towing capacity makes it one of the most capable vehicles in the region for hauling large boats or trailers across emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a dedicated eight-seat environment with a powerful tri-zone climate control system designed to drop interior temperatures rapidly even when it is 45°C outside. It includes a factory-fitted cool box in the center console to keep beverages chilled during long family road trips. The LE Platinum trim ensures all three rows are well-served with acoustic glass that isolates the interior from desert wind noise at high highway speeds.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, and Blind Spot Intervention. The 360-degree camera system is particularly helpful for navigating tight mall parking in Dubai, while the Adaptive Cruise Control makes the long stretches of E11 highway driving much less fatiguing. Six airbags and Vehicle Dynamic Control come standard to ensure maximum stability on loose sand or gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

Perfect for the family man or desert enthusiast who wants the prestige and power of a V8 flagship with the most desirable GCC resale specification. This is a reliable, high-spec workhorse that is ready for another 100,000 kilometers of regional adventure.
