Summary

This 2023 Defender 110 HSE P400 is an exceptionally balanced buy for the GCC market, offering the high-output 400 hp inline-six engine that provides a significant performance jump over the four-cylinder models without the heavy fuel consumption of the V8. As a 7-seater HSE trim, it comes equipped with essential regional features like ventilated Windsor leather seats and the premium Meridian Surround Sound system. The black-on-black color scheme is a high-demand combination in the UAE, ensuring strong resale liquidity. With 55,547 km, this three-year-old vehicle sits right at the average mileage for the region, having been used primarily for the typical long-distance commutes between Emirates. It represents the modern standard for a luxury SUV that genuinely transitions from executive city transport to serious weekend desert exploration.

This Car vs Other 2023 Defender 110s

With a mileage of 55,547 km over three years, this vehicle aligns perfectly with the GCC average of approximately 20,000 km per year. The black exterior is a Tier-1 resale color in the local market, holding value significantly better than more adventurous or flat colors. Unlike many listings in this year range that are base S or SE trims, this HSE variant includes the higher-grade Windsor leather and cooling features critical for the local climate.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim is a major step up from the SE, adding Matrix LED headlights with signature DRLs and 14-way heated and cooled electric memory front seats as standard. You also benefit from the Meridian Surround Sound System and the full Windsor leather interior, which offers better heat resistance and durability than the standard synthetic materials. Mechanically, the P400 powertrain includes the 48V mild-hybrid system for smoother stop-start performance in heavy traffic.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 110 leads the luxury 4x4 segment with a 900 mm wading depth and 291 mm maximum ground clearance via its electronic air suspension, outclassing the Mercedes G-Class and Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in technical articulation. Its unibody construction provides a far more composed on-road ride than the Lexus GX for daily highway driving between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While rivals often force a choice between luxury and utility, the Defender's Pivi Pro interface and 3,500 kg towing capacity offer the most versatile package.

Running Costs & Resale

The P400 engine averages approximately 10.7 L/100km, though GCC summer temperatures and heavy AC usage typically bring real-world city consumption closer to 12.5 L/100km. Service intervals are set at 26,000 km or 12 months, supported by an extensive authorized network across the UAE, KSA, and Oman. This model currently enjoys excellent value retention in the GCC, depreciating at a lower rate than German luxury rivals due to its iconic status and high demand.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp 3.0L turbocharged engine delivers a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on high-speed motorways. Its Terrain Response 2 system automatically adjusts the air suspension and locking differentials, making it incredibly capable in soft sand dunes or rocky wadis. The 550 Nm of torque ensures that even with a full load of seven passengers, the vehicle never feels underpowered during steep climbs.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seat configuration is ideal for families, featuring a dedicated rear climate zone to keep all three rows cool during the peak summer months. The HSE-specific ventilated front seats are a vital addition for GCC owners, providing immediate relief from cabin heat soak. The sliding panoramic sunroof includes a high-quality UV-filter blind, ensuring the interior stays bright without compromising the effectiveness of the air conditioning.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and a full ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Assist, and a 3D Surround Camera system that is invaluable for parking in tight city spaces. The ClearSight interior rear-view mirror ensures visibility even when the cargo area is fully loaded to the roof. Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist provide added security for long, fatigue-inducing desert highway drives.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec HSE P400 is the perfect opportunity for a buyer who wants a three-year-old Defender with the right color, the right seat count, and a full-specification interior for maximum local resale value.
