Summary

This 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 X-DYNAMIC HSE P400 represents a balanced choice in the GCC market, offering the high-output 400 hp straight-six engine with mild-hybrid efficiency for city traffic. The Black-on-Black configuration remains the most sought-after resale combination in the region, ensuring strong value retention as it enters its fourth year. As an X-DYNAMIC HSE, it bridges the gap between rugged utility and Range Rover-level luxury, featuring premium Windsor leather and cooled seats essential for the local climate. With 97,000 km, this vehicle has been utilized for the long-distance commutes typical of UAE highway driving and is mechanically primed for continued heavy use. It stands out from rivals by offering genuine desert capability without sacrificing the high-speed refinement required for the E11 or SMBZ Road.

This Car vs Other 2023 Defender 110s

With 97,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is consistent with GCC highway use for a three-year-old executive SUV, where annual averages frequently reach 30,000 km. The Black exterior is a primary value driver in the local used market, typically commanding a faster sale and higher residual value than lighter or non-metallic colors. Being a GCC-spec model, it retains full compatibility with regional service centers and has been factory-optimized for extreme heat performance.

X-DYNAMIC HSE vs Lower Trims

The X-DYNAMIC HSE trim is a significant step up from the standard SE, adding ventilated (cooled) front seats and a 14-way power adjustment that is vital for summer comfort in the GCC. It also upgrades the audio to the Meridian™ Surround Sound System and includes the more advanced Terrain Response 2 system, which features an 'Auto' mode to manage traction across changing sand and road surfaces instantly. Additionally, this trim features the Silicon Silver exterior accents and more durable Resist interior materials designed to withstand heavy active use.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 or Nissan Patrol, the Defender 110 P400 offers a more sophisticated monocoque chassis that provides superior high-speed stability on paved UAE highways. Its 900mm wading depth and electronic air suspension offer more vertical flexibility than the BMW X5 or Mercedes-Benz GLE when venturing off-road. The P400 powertrain also delivers a more responsive 0-100 km/h time than most naturally aspirated V8 competitors in the same price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

The P400 mild-hybrid engine is designed to optimize fuel consumption during stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh, with real-world highway figures averaging approximately 10.5L/100km. Service intervals are typically scheduled every 13,000 km, and Land Rover’s extensive authorized network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures parts availability is high. The Defender 110 currently enjoys some of the lowest depreciation rates in the luxury SUV segment, often retaining over 70% of its value after three years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L turbocharged inline-six produces 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a swift 0-100 km/h sprint of 6.1 seconds for confident highway overtaking. Its air suspension can raise the vehicle to provide a maximum ground clearance of 291mm, making it highly capable for weekend desert drives. The P400 also boasts a massive 3,720 kg towing capacity, ideal for hauling boats or horse trailers across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the five-seat layout provides expansive legroom and a premium cabin environment featuring the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen. The GCC-essential ventilated front seats and powerful dual-zone climate control ensure the interior remains chilled even in 45°C+ summer peaks. A sliding panoramic roof and premium cabin lighting enhance the executive feel during evening drives through the city.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a 3D Surround Camera with 360° visibility, which is invaluable for parking in tight urban spaces or navigating technical off-road obstacles. The ADAS suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control for relaxed long-distance travel, Blind Spot Assist for multi-lane highway safety, and Wade Sensing for crossing seasonal wadis. Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist provide a final layer of protection for daily family use.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a rugged 4x4 that doubles as a refined daily driver, this Black X-DYNAMIC HSE is the perfect high-spec choice. It offers the best engine in the range and the most desirable color, representing a high-value entry into modern Defender ownership.
