Summary

This 2023 Volkswagen Teramont TRENDLINE represents a smart entry point into the large SUV segment, offering unparalleled interior volume for families in the GCC. Despite being the base trim, it retains the core mechanical robustness of the VR6 engine and the confidence of Four Wheel Drive, making it a reliable companion for cross-emirate commutes and school runs alike. The Silver exterior is one of the most practical choices for the region, as it effectively hides desert dust and reflects heat better than darker tones, preserving resale value for the future. With its 7-seat configuration, this model stands out for providing genuine adult-sized room in the third row, a feat most competitors struggle to match. Given its age and the specific mileage, it offers a significant price advantage over showroom-new units while remaining within its most reliable early-lifecycle phase. For a buyer looking for German engineering, massive cabin space, and the peace of mind that comes with GCC specifications, this is an exceptionally logical choice in the current market.

This Car vs Other 2023 Teramonts

When comparing this specific 2023 model to others on the market, the primary factor is its mileage of 82,858 km. While this is slightly above the typical GCC average of 25,000 km per year, it suggests the vehicle has been primarily used for long-distance highway travel between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi rather than stressful short-burst city traffic. In the GCC, high-speed highway kilometers are often considered 'kinder' to the engine and transmission than stop-start urban idling in extreme heat. The Silver exterior is a major asset here, as it remains the second most popular color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring that when the time comes to sell, the pool of interested buyers will be at its maximum. This vehicle has been maintained to GCC standards, meaning the cooling systems and filtration are optimized for the local environment, unlike imported North American models that often lack the necessary heavy-duty radiators and AC compressors. This makes it a more stable and predictable investment compared to lower-priced non-GCC alternatives.

TRENDLINE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the Teramont range, the TRENDLINE focuses on delivering the essential Volkswagen experience without the unnecessary complexity of higher-tier electronics that can sometimes be prone to wear in extreme climates. Even at this level, you benefit from the powerful 3.6L V6 engine, which is a significant step up from the 2.0L turbocharged engines often found in the base trims of competing SUVs. This powertrain provides the steady, naturally aspirated torque that GCC drivers prefer for highway overtaking and fully loaded family trips. You still receive the full 7-seat versatility and the intuitive touchscreen infotainment system that supports essential smartphone integration. By choosing the TRENDLINE, you are prioritizing mechanical longevity and cabin space over cosmetic extras like larger, harsher-riding wheels or panoramic sunroofs that can increase cabin heat during peak summer months. It is the pragmatic choice for the value-conscious buyer who wants the size and safety of a German SUV without the premium price tag of the Highline or R-Line trims.

Teramont vs Segment Rivals

The Volkswagen Teramont competes directly with heavyweights like the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, and Honda Pilot, yet it carves out a unique niche by offering the most generous interior dimensions in its class. While the Highlander focuses on hybrid efficiency, the Teramont provides a traditional, robust V6 that is often easier and more affordable to service across the wider GCC region. Compared to the Ford Explorer, the Teramont offers a more composed, European driving dynamic and a third row that actually accommodates three adults comfortably, rather than just children. Its boot space with the third row folded is cavernous, outclassing most rivals and making it the ideal vehicle for long camping trips to the Northern Emirates or massive grocery runs. The inclusion of Four Wheel Drive as standard in this configuration also gives it a capability edge over many front-wheel-drive base models in the segment, providing extra grip on gravel roads or during the occasional heavy rainstorm in the city.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a Teramont in the GCC is surprisingly straightforward thanks to Volkswagen's extensive service network spanning from the UAE to Saudi Arabia. The 3.6L V6 engine is a well-known unit locally, meaning parts are readily available and most specialized mechanics are familiar with its maintenance schedule. Real-world fuel consumption typically hovers around 10.5 L/100km on the highway, though this will increase in heavy Dubai or Riyadh city traffic. Periodic service intervals are usually every 15,000 km, which is convenient for high-mileage drivers. In terms of resale, the Teramont has established itself as a staple of the family SUV market, depreciating at a steady rate of approximately 12-15% annually, which is highly competitive for a European brand. Because it is a GCC spec vehicle, it retains a significant value premium over American 'salvage' or 'rebuilt' imports, making it a safer place to put your money if you plan to upgrade in three to four years.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this Teramont is its 200 hp V6 engine, which provides a smooth and linear power delivery that is perfectly suited for the long, flat highways of the GCC. While it isn't a dedicated dune basher, the Four Wheel Drive system offers excellent traction on sandy patches and unpaved parking lots, which are common in developing residential areas. It can sprint from 0-100 km/h in approximately 8.9 seconds, which is more than adequate for a vehicle of this size when merging onto fast-moving roads like E11 or E311. The steering is light and precise, making the vehicle feel smaller than it is when navigating tight mall parking garages. With a decent ground clearance of over 200 mm, it handles speed bumps and minor road imperfections with ease, providing a plush ride quality for all seven passengers. For those who enjoy weekend road trips, its towing capacity is sufficient for light trailers or jet ski racks, adding another layer of utility to your lifestyle.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Teramont is a masterclass in ergonomic design and space management, featuring three rows of seats that can be easily reconfigured. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the GCC, with powerful vents extending to the very back to ensure that passengers in the third row stay cool even when external temperatures hit 50°C. The silver exterior is complemented by a cabin finished in durable, high-quality materials designed to withstand the wear and tear of family life. Noise insulation is excellent, keeping the cabin quiet during high-speed cruises and protecting passengers from the wind noise common on desert highways. Storage is abundant, with large door pockets and a deep center console, ensuring that every passenger has a place for their belongings. The 'Easy Entry' second-row seats slide and tilt forward even with child seats installed, solving a common pain point for parents in the region.

Safety

Safety is where the Teramont truly shines, carrying a 5-Star NCAP rating that provides immense peace of mind for family buyers. This TRENDLINE trim comes standard with a comprehensive suite of airbags, including side curtains that protect all three rows. Active safety features like Electronic Stability Control and Anti-Slip Regulation are vital for maintaining control on the sandy or oil-slicked roads often encountered after a light rain in the UAE. The vehicle is equipped with a rearview camera and parking sensors, which are essential tools for maneuvering a vehicle of this size safely in crowded areas. Additionally, the heavy-duty braking system is designed to handle the heat soak of the GCC climate, ensuring consistent stopping power during emergency situations. Volkswagen’s focus on structural integrity means the Teramont provides a protective cocoon that many smaller or lighter SUVs simply cannot match.

The bottom line

This Teramont is the perfect match for a large family needing maximum space and German safety standards on a sensible budget. Given its GCC pedigree and popular silver finish, it offers a secure and practical ownership experience with strong future resale potential.
