• 900 mm maximum wading depth

Summary

This 2024 Land Rover Defender 110 HSE represents the ideal balance of high-end refinement and legendary off-road capability for the GCC market. With just over 30,000 km, its mileage is significantly lower than the regional average for a two-year-old adventure SUV, promising many more years of desert and highway service. The Gold exterior is a sophisticated, heat-reflective choice that stands out in the UAE's premium car landscape while maintaining strong resale appeal. As a P400 HSE trim, it offers the high-output inline-six engine that GCC buyers prefer for effortless highway cruising between Emirates. This is a versatile 7-seater that transitions perfectly from an executive daily driver to a capable weekend overlander.

This Car vs Other 2024 Defender 110s

With 30,073 km on the odometer, this Defender has been driven significantly less than the 40,000–50,000 km typically expected for a 2024 model in the GCC. The Gold paintwork is a unique alternative to the common white and black options, offering excellent thermal properties for the local climate while remaining a desirable metallic finish for future resale. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains full compatibility with local Land Rover service centers and is optimized for extreme heat performance.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim sits at the top of the non-V8 range, adding essential GCC luxuries like ventilated 14-way memory seats and the superior 700W Meridian Surround Sound System. Unlike the base P300, the P400 powertrain utilizes a 3.0L twin-charged engine with mild-hybrid technology, providing 400 hp and significantly more torque for sand driving. It also standardizes the Interactive Driver Display and premium LED headlights, which are often costly options on SE or S trims.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Nissan Patrol offer similar seating, the Defender leads the segment in technical off-road geometry with its superior 900 mm wading depth and adjustable air suspension. Its monocoque architecture provides a level of on-road refinement and high-speed stability that traditional body-on-frame competitors struggle to match. The 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system is also widely considered more intuitive and modern than those found in its primary Japanese rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the P400 mild-hybrid engine averages around 11–12 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start traffic can see this rise to 15 L/100km. Service intervals are typically set at 26,000 km or 12 months, with Al Tayer and EuroMotors providing extensive authorized support across the UAE and region. The Defender 110 currently enjoys some of the highest residual values in the luxury SUV segment, often retaining over 80% of its value after two years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The P400 powertrain delivers a sharp 0–100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds, making it surprisingly quick for a 2.3-tonne SUV and excellent for highway overtaking. Its Electronic Air Suspension allows the driver to raise the vehicle to a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, clearing terrain that would halt most other crossovers. The twin-speed transfer box with low-range gearing and Terrain Response 2 system ensure it is fully equipped for the Liwa or Fossil Rock dunes.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 7-seat configuration is managed by a three-zone climate control system designed specifically to maintain cabin temperatures during peak GCC summers. The HSE trim features high-grade Windsor leather and ventilated front seats, which are a necessity for local comfort from May to September. Cabin insulation is remarkably effective at blocking out desert wind noise, providing a quiet environment for long drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi or Riyadh.

Safety

The 2024 Defender holds a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes standard with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Blind Spot Assist, which is vital for multi-lane GCC highways. The 3D Surround Camera with Wade Sensing provides clear visibility of obstacles during off-road maneuvers or heavy rain flooding. Additional features like Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control reduce driver fatigue on long-distance cross-border journeys.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Defender 110 HSE is the perfect acquisition for a buyer seeking a nearly-new, high-specification 7-seater that hasn't endured high annual mileage. It combines the most desirable engine and trim combination with a sophisticated color profile, making it a standout opportunity in the current market.
