Nissan Armada PLATINUM

Highlights

• 3,856 kg maximum braked towing capacity
• 233 mm standard ground clearance
• 400 hp from a 5.6-litre V8

Summary

This 2024 Nissan Armada Platinum offers a unique opportunity to own a near-new, high-spec full-size SUV with the added value of Japanese-market provenance. With 52,000 km on the clock, it has been driven slightly more than the typical GCC average for its age, but it remains a robust and modern choice for large families needing eight seats. The White exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the region, helping to offset the typical depreciation associated with non-GCC spec vehicles. As a Platinum trim, it stands out from rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser or Chevrolet Tahoe by offering a more premium, leather-lined interior at a competitive price point. For a buyer in the GCC, the primary consideration is the Japanese regional spec, which may require minor local cooling adaptations but offers a significantly higher equipment level than base local models.

This Car vs Other 2024 Armadas

While 52,000 km is slightly above the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, it reflects a vehicle that has likely seen consistent highway use, which is ideal for the V8 powertrain. The White exterior is a significant advantage, as it is the strongest resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets due to its heat-reflective properties. This specific unit's Japanese specification often means it has been maintained to high standards, though buyers should verify local warranty compatibility.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is a major step up from the SV and SL, adding 22-inch alloy wheels and premium quilted leather upholstery that gives the cabin a far more executive feel. Crucially for the GCC climate, this trim includes ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, alongside a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 8-inch screens to keep families occupied on long cross-border drives. It also features a digital rearview mirror and one-touch power-folding third-row seats, making cargo management effortless compared to lower trims.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Armada leads its segment with a standard 400 hp V8, offering more base power than the entry-level engines in the Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon. Its 3,856 kg towing capacity is among the best in class, making it a superior choice for those hauling boats or trailers to the coast. Additionally, the Armada's interior refinement and standard safety tech often exceed what is found in similarly priced Toyota Land Cruiser 300 base trims, providing better value for luxury-focused buyers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 typically averages around 15.5 L/100km, though this can rise in the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh. As a Japanese-spec vehicle, it may not carry the same resale premium as a GCC-spec equivalent, but the high Platinum equipment level helps maintain its appeal in the secondary market. Nissan's authorized service network is one of the most extensive in the region, with major centers like Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood providing reliable parts availability across the UAE.

Performance & Capability

The 5.6L Endurance V8 delivers a smooth 400 horsepower, allowing this large SUV to reach 100 km/h in approximately 6.9 seconds, which is impressive for its size. The Intelligent 4x4 system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case, ensuring it is genuinely capable of handling weekend desert drives or sandy terrain. Its auto-leveling rear suspension ensures a stable ride even when fully loaded with eight passengers or a heavy trailer.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a true eight-seater, featuring a tri-zone climate control system that is essential for maintaining comfort during intense GCC summers. Acoustic glass and high-grade insulation keep the interior quiet during high-speed highway cruising between emirates. Passengers in the second row benefit from dedicated climate vents and the Platinum-exclusive entertainment screens, making it one of the most family-friendly interiors in the full-size segment.

Safety

This Platinum trim is equipped with the full Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite, including Intelligent Cruise Control and Blind Spot Intervention, which are vital for the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the region. It also features an Intelligent Around View Monitor (360-degree camera), providing a bird's-eye view that makes parking this 5.3-meter SUV in tight urban spaces much safer. Lane Departure Prevention and Rear Automatic Braking further enhance its credentials as a top-tier family safety vehicle.

The bottom line

This 2024 Armada Platinum is the ideal choice for a large family looking for maximum luxury and V8 power without the premium price of a GCC-spec equivalent. Its high trim level and classic color make it a standout value proposition in the current market.
