Tesla Model 3 LONG RANGE

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds
• 629 km electric range (WLTP)
• 250 kW peak DC charging

Summary

This 2-year-old Tesla Model 3 Long Range offers a compelling mix of performance and efficiency for the GCC market. With its dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system, it provides high-speed stability and instant torque that is particularly useful for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways. The grey exterior is a practical choice for the region, showing less dust than black while maintaining a higher resale appeal than bolder colors. As the 'Highland' facelift model, it features significant upgrades in cabin quietness and ride quality over earlier versions. For a buyer looking to transition to electric, the Long Range trim remains the benchmark for usable distance and charging speed in the local infrastructure.

This Car vs Other 2024 Model 3s

At 80,000 km over two years, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual GCC average, suggesting frequent inter-emirate highway use. While the mileage is higher for its age, the 2024 model year benefit is significant as it includes the 'Highland' refresh with improved suspension and acoustic glass. The grey paint is a strong resale performer in the UAE and Saudi markets, offering better value retention than non-metallic options.

LONG RANGE vs Lower Trims

The Long Range trim is a substantial step up from the standard Rear-Wheel Drive model, most notably adding the dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system for superior traction. It also upgrades the audio to a 17-speaker premium system and increases the maximum DC fast-charging rate from 170 kW to 250 kW. For GCC buyers, the most vital addition is the larger battery pack, which provides the extra buffer needed for long-distance desert highway drives in extreme summer heat.

Model 3 vs Segment Rivals

The Model 3 Long Range leads the BMW i4 and Polestar 2 in terms of charging infrastructure integration and software simplicity. Its dedicated Supercharger network remains a decisive advantage for road trips across the GCC, particularly between the UAE and Oman or Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the Tesla's cabin cooling system is specifically engineered to handle high-ambient temperatures more efficiently than many European electric rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world efficiency typically averages around 16–18 kWh/100km in GCC conditions, though summer cooling requirements can increase consumption in stop-start city traffic. Tesla does not follow traditional service intervals; instead, it uses a condition-based approach, typically requiring a cabin filter change every two years and a brake fluid check every four. Resale value for the Model 3 remains the highest in the EV segment in the UAE, with the brand currently benefiting from a firming used market as demand for the Highland refresh grows.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor setup delivers a verified 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h highways. The All-Wheel Drive system constantly adjusts torque to each wheel, ensuring a planted feel even during the occasional sudden rainstorms or on sandy road shoulders. With a top speed of 201 km/h and instant throttle response, it offers a level of mechanical precision that rivals traditional sport sedans.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2024 interior refresh introduces ventilated front seats as standard, a critical feature for comfort during the GCC summer. Passengers in the rear benefit from a dedicated 8-inch touchscreen for climate control and entertainment, while the entire cabin is better insulated from road noise than previous generations. The minimalist design is complemented by 360-degree acoustic glass, keeping the interior significantly cooler when parked under the sun.

Safety

The Model 3 features a comprehensive ADAS suite including Autopilot, which is exceptionally useful for maintaining safety on long, straight desert highways. Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and side-collision warnings, all supported by a rigid body structure that has earned top safety ratings globally. Its low center of gravity due to the floor-mounted battery also provides excellent rollover resistance.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a high-mileage commuter who wants the latest 'Highland' technology and long-range capability at a more accessible price point than a new model. It represents the most practical entry point into premium EV ownership in the GCC today.
