Summary

This 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport represents the pinnacle of off-road engineering in the 300 Series lineup, finished in high-resale White which is ideal for the GCC climate. While most LC300s prioritize luxury or utility, the GR Sport is specifically developed with Dakar Rally feedback to provide superior high-speed stability and mechanical durability. The rare diesel powertrain is a strategic choice for GCC buyers, offering massive low-end torque for desert climbs and significantly better fuel range for long cross-border drives compared to the petrol V6. With 7 seats and the full suite of Toyota Safety Sense, it balances extreme off-road hardware with daily family practicality. Ownership in the region is supported by the most extensive authorized service network, ensuring peace of mind from Dubai to Riyadh.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

With mileage effectively at delivery levels for a 2024 model, this vehicle sits well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than darker shades. Choosing a GCC-spec diesel model avoids the common warranty and parts compatibility issues often found with imported American or European variants.

GR SPORT vs Lower Trims

The GR Sport adds significant mechanical hardware over the GXR and VXR, most notably the front and rear electronic differential locks and the E-KDSS system which electronically manages the stabilizer bars for better wheel articulation. Inside, you get trim-exclusive GR-branded sport seats and Gazoo Racing interior detailing that differentiates it from the standard luxury-focused ZX. It also features a unique mesh grille and 18-inch matte grey alloys designed for durability on gravel and sand.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the Nissan Patrol and Land Rover Defender, the Land Cruiser leads with its unparalleled regional service network and parts availability. Its 110-litre dual-tank system offers superior range for long-distance desert expeditions compared to segment competitors with smaller fuel capacities. The diesel's 700 Nm of torque provides more low-range pulling power than the naturally aspirated V8s traditionally found in this class.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.3L twin-turbo diesel is remarkably efficient for a full-size SUV, typically averaging around 8.9L/100km on combined highway cycles, which is a massive advantage in GCC stop-start traffic. Toyota Land Cruisers hold the highest resale value in the GCC market, with the GR Sport trim specifically retaining approximately 90% of its value in the first two years. Authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, KSA, and Oman, with standard intervals every 10,000 km.

Performance & Capability

The twin-turbo diesel produces a massive 700 Nm of torque, enabling effortless overtaking on highways and superior crawling ability in soft sand. The GR Sport features an optimized 32-degree approach angle and a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, making it the most capable factory-spec tow vehicle in the lineup. Its 10-speed automatic transmission is tuned to keep the engine in its torque band, providing a linear power delivery that is easy to manage during technical off-roading.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite its rugged focus, this 7-seater features a four-zone climate control system designed to withstand 50°C summer peaks. The cabin includes a high-resolution 12.3-inch display, a cooled center console refrigerator for beverages, and ventilated front seats to ensure comfort on long drives across the Emirates. Acoustic glass and improved insulation make this generation significantly quieter at highway speeds than the previous 200 Series.

Safety

Standard safety includes the Toyota Safety Sense suite, featuring Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist which are essential for long desert highway commutes. The 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor with Multi-Terrain Monitor provides clear visibility of obstacles during both tight city parking and technical off-road maneuvers. It is equipped with a comprehensive 10-airbag system and advanced stability control specifically tuned for high-speed sand driving.

The bottom line

This is the definitive choice for the GCC enthusiast who demands the ultimate in off-road hardware without sacrificing Toyota's legendary reliability and resale value.
