• 1,200 km total combined range (CLTC)

Summary

This 2026 Leopard 5 Navigator represents the cutting edge of the GCC's growing luxury PHEV segment, offering a rare combination of supercar-level acceleration and genuine off-road hardware. As a zero-km Chinese spec model, it provides the most advanced software suite and feature set available for this platform, finished in a high-resale Black that is always in demand across the UAE. The DMO platform bridges the gap between daily city efficiency and the raw torque needed for Liwa weekend expeditions, making it a versatile alternative to traditional petrol-only 4x4s. For the local buyer, the main advantage is the ability to handle the Sheikh Zayed Road commute in full electric mode while retaining a massive total range for cross-border trips. This specific Navigator trim ensures you aren't just buying capability, but a high-tech cabin equipped for the extreme desert climate.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 5s

With zero kilometers on the odometer, this Leopard 5 offers a pristine entry point into BYD’s premium off-road sub-brand. In a market where annual mileage typically hits 25,000 km, starting at zero provides a significant long-term value advantage and maximum mechanical longevity. The Black exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC, ensuring strong liquidity and desirability when it eventually returns to the used market.

NAVIGATOR vs Lower Trims

The Navigator trim is a significant step up from the base configurations, most notably adding the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system which allows for adjustable ride height and damping. It also upgrades the interior with premium Nappa leather, ventilated and massaging front seats, and a high-fidelity 18-speaker Devialet audio system. Tech-focused buyers will also appreciate the addition of the head-up display and the dedicated passenger entertainment screen not found on entry models.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 competes directly with the Tank 300 and the Land Rover Defender, but stands apart with its 680 hp hybrid output which dwarfs the standard petrol engines in this class. Its 83-litre fuel tank paired with a 31.8 kWh Blade Battery offers a total combined range of 1,200 km (CLTC), far exceeding the single-tank range of its non-hybrid rivals. While traditional competitors rely on mechanical linkages, the Leopard 5’s independent dual-motor torque vectoring provides more precise control in soft sand.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this PHEV sits around 7.8 L/100km in combined cycles, though frequent charging can drop city fuel use to near zero for daily commutes. As a Chinese spec import, owners benefit from the latest OTA updates, though it is important to note that third-party specialized service centers in the UAE are the primary network for maintenance rather than the local petrol-only agencies. Resale value for BYD's premium models is stabilizing well in the GCC, typically depreciating at a rate similar to established American SUV brands.

Performance & Capability

The Leopard 5 delivers a staggering 680 hp and 760 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.8 seconds—unheard of for a body-on-frame SUV. Its off-road suite includes three electronic differential locks and a specialized "Panther Turn" function for a tight 10.4-meter turning circle in technical wadi terrain. With a maximum ground clearance of 310 mm and multiple terrain modes including Sand and Mud, it is purpose-built for the challenging dunes of the Empty Quarter.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC summer, featuring a high-performance air conditioning system and ventilated Nappa leather seats to combat 50°C heat. The triple-screen layout—consisting of a 15.6-inch central hub and dual 12.3-inch displays—creates a futuristic environment for all five passengers. Practicality is enhanced by a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console and acoustic glass that keeps the interior silent even during high-speed highway cruising between Emirates.

Safety

Safety is anchored by BYD’s ultra-safe LFP Blade Battery technology, which is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and physical damage without thermal runaway. The Navigator trim comes standard with a full ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control for long desert hauls and a 360-degree camera with a transparent chassis view for navigating hidden obstacles off-road. Blind-spot monitoring and emergency lane-keep assist provide essential protection in fast-moving Dubai and Riyadh highway traffic.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the rugged presence of a traditional 4x4 with the acceleration and tech of a modern EV, this zero-km Navigator is the premier choice in the current market.
