2018 Jeep Wrangler won’t be delivering 368 hp after all

2018 Jeep Wrangler four-cylinder motors have certainly been the talk of the town in recent months. With no concrete evidence of output figures, rumours started to circulate that 368 horsepower would race towards each corner and coincidently was backed up by a NHTSA filling.

Last week, a shred of information found its way online clearly stating Wrangler fans could look forward to a potent 2.0-litre petrol motor. FCA or Fiat Chrysler Automobiles quickly removed the details and subsequently announced the engine is Not Rated.

As the document was swiftly removed, it’s a possibility FCA made a small mistake when submitting the paperwork.

A more reasonable 268 horsepower seems feasible. If by any chance the document was accurate, the 2018 Wrangler could have one of the most potent four-cylinder motors available. Comparing it to engines found in the Mercedes-Benz A45, CLA45 and GLA45 models, the iconic off-roader would crank out slightly more horses.

FCA does have the technical know-how and resources to create such an engine. However, it would come as an odd move to fix it into an SUV first before a sedan. Although, we’d be more than happy to purchase one with over 350 horsepower generated from a four-pot motor.

2018 Jeep Wrangler will have two flavours

At launch, the rugged off-roaders will be available with the traditional 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine rated at 285 horsepower and the new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol motor.

We’ll found out what the final figures are later this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year.

Dubicars.com has new Jeep Wrangler and used Jeep Wrangler for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
