2018 Sonata lands in the Middle East

Those on the look out for a mid-size sedan are in for a treat. The 2018 Sonata has landed in the Middle East and brings along a fresh look inside and out, standard safety features and a selection of new engines and gearboxes.

Hyundai’s latest version of the Sonata features a cascading front grille, redesigned bonnet, vertical LED daytime running lights, LED headlights and a set of refreshed alloys available in 16,17 and 18-inch.

Around the back, the model gets LED tail lights, larger Sonata badge and a new location for the licence plate which is now bolted to the bumper rather than the boot.

Inside, Hyundai has restyled the centre console and added a three-spoke sports steering wheel and a new instrument gauge cluster. Additionally, Hyundai offers 2018 Sonata customers an optional 7-inch touchscreen media interface with Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Navigation joins the extras list with bird’s-eye-view along with keyless start and a wireless phone charger.

Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, reverse camera, front and rear parking assist safety features are now standard.

2018 Sonata models are available with four petrol engines. A 2-litre and 2.4-litre MPI or Multi Point Injection, 2.4-litre GDI or Gasoline Direct Injection and a 2-litre turbocharged GDI. A six-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the range driving the front wheels, while the turbocharged unit is mated to an eight-speed automatic.

UAE dealerships have yet to confirm starting prices for the 2018 Sonata.

Dubicars.com has new Hyundai Sonata and used Hyundai Sonata for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
