Mercedes-AMG A45 S power output revealed

Rumours have been circulating that a potent Mercedes-AMG A45 S flagship hot hatch is on the way. Mercedes haven’t confirmed the news themselves. Instead, this information comes from a German insurance company.

Known as HUK24, the site lists the A45 S 4Matic as having a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine generating 415 horsepower.

If this number is indeed correct, this would put it above the Audi RS3 Sportback and TT RS with their turbocharged five-cylinder 2.5-litre engine. The former of the two dethroned the A45 a few years ago to be the most potent Hot Hatch straight from the factory.

The same website goes on to reveal the standard A45 will generate 382 hp from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A 6 hp increase over the outgoing model.

2018 Mercedes Benz A45 models have an electronically top speed of 250 km/h and are capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

With a slight increase in power, expect the new standard A45 and S variant to be quicker in a straight line with the S model having a slightly higher top speed (270 km/h).

Aside from the potent engine, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and standard A45 will also get a drift mode function.

More information about both Hot Hatches will be revealed later this year at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show taking place in March.
