Mercedes-Benz adds GLE 43 AMG to 2017 lineup

Not to be confused with the readily available GLE 43 ‘coupe’ version, Mercedes-Benz are expanding their lineup to include a potent four-wheeler proudly wearing the badge GLE 43 AMG.

It’s all a bit confusing when it comes to the GLE-Series as there are two body styles with the same name. To clear any confusion, this is the SUV version. All four wheels are powered by a biturbo 3-litre V6 petrol unit rated at 362 horsepower and 472 Nm of torque all while connected to a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox.

Seating is available for up to five people inside the GLE 43 AMG and includes AMG’s Dynamic Select System giving drivers control of how they want their vehicle to sound and handle out of five options. Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual and Slippery. Interior options are as lavish as you would expect, premium leather seats, COMAND system, powered sunroof and much more.

These models are also fitted with a wide variety or AMG products including finely tuned steering and braking systems, sports suspension and throttle mapping.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, AMG came up with the 43 series of which there is nine in total, as a gateway for customers to get their hands a sportier variant that’s not as unforgiving as the 63 lineup.

This may not be the last of the 43 badge within the Germans lineup as there are more than a handful of vehicles that don’t have one of these versions.
