New Porsche 911 GT3 RS fully revealed before Geneva

Last week, you may have heard leaked images of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS surfaced online and were swiftly removed. They are back online again, and Porsche has confirmed the no holds barred sports car is heading to Geneva next month.

Similar to last year’s model, the refreshed 2018 911 GT3 RS draws power from a naturally aspirated mid-mounted 4.0-litre flat-six cylinder petrol engine. Now pushing out 520 horsepower, the sports car is mated a unique seven-speed PDK explicitly tuned for the vehicle, 0-100 km/h is achieved in a swift 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 312 km/h.

Recently, we mentioned the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS receives a fresh face and larger rear spoiler. Not only are those new, but there are new side skirts and headlight units along with additional ‘holes’ cut into the bodywork to improve brake cooling.

Adorning each corner is a set of 20- or 21-inch lightweight alloys and a new engine cover with an integrated third brake light to complete the street-legal race car.

The race car similarities don’t stop there, as the cockpit has been stripped of the rear seats, the rear windows have been replaced with lighter materials as have the door panels and some of the sound reading material has also been removed all with ultra lightweight in mind.

There is also an Alcantara wrapped sports steering wheel with a 12’o clock stripe and lightweight carbon fibre seats along with a free creature comfort features.

Along with a fresh face and mild power increase, Porsche is offering two unique packages. At no additional cost, the Clubsport adds a roll-cage, fire extinguisher, six-point harness and preparations for a battery disconnect.

The Weissach package makes a return in 2018 and adds numerous weight-saving features including carbon fibre components and a set of optional rims comprised of magnesium, the 911 GT3 RS weighs only 1,432 kilos.
