Summary

This 2017 Range Rover Evoque HSE Convertible offers a truly unique open-top experience in the premium SUV segment. With its low mileage of 63,294 km for a 9-year-old vehicle in the GCC, it represents a well-preserved example of Land Rover's lifestyle-focused design. The Grey exterior is a highly desirable shade in the local market, ensuring strong resale interest and better heat reflection than darker tones. As a GCC spec model, it is fully optimized for regional conditions, featuring the essential cooling capacity and technical compliance required for long-term ownership in the Emirates. This vehicle perfectly bridges the gap between a stylish city cruiser and a capable weekend getaway car.

This Car vs Other 2017 Range Rover Evoques

While many Range Rover Evoques of this age have surpassed the 150,000 km mark, this example sits at a significantly lower 63,294 km, highlighting its use as a weekend or lifestyle vehicle. In the GCC market, low-mileage European convertibles are increasingly rare, making this a standout option for collectors and enthusiasts. The Grey finish further enhances its appeal, as it is one of the most resilient and sought-after colors for maintaining value in the region.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a substantial upgrade over the SE Dynamic, most notably with the inclusion of 12-way Oxford leather memory seats and the premium Meridian sound system. It also features configurable interior mood lighting and the upgraded InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10.2-inch display. For GCC buyers, these interior refinements and the superior audio quality significantly enhance the cabin experience during long highway drives.

Range Rover Evoque vs Segment Rivals

The Evoque Convertible stands in a class of its own, as rivals like the BMW X3 or Audi Q5 do not offer an open-top variant. Its Terrain Response system gives it genuine off-road capability that typical convertibles lack, making it suitable for both beachside drives and light gravel paths. Additionally, the Z-Fabric roof is specifically engineered for acoustic insulation, keeping the cabin remarkably quiet and cool compared to other soft-top rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L turbo petrol engine averages around 8.6 L/100km, which is efficient for a vehicle of this weight in GCC traffic. Maintenance is straightforward through Land Rover's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals every 13,000 km. Being a GCC spec model, it avoids the depreciation traps associated with imported variants, retaining its value better at the 3-year resale mark.

Performance & Capability

The 200 hp turbocharged engine delivers a smooth and responsive drive, capable of reaching a top speed of approximately 209 km/h. While it excels as a city cruiser, the standard Terrain Response system allows for specialized settings in Grass, Gravel, and Snow, ensuring stability on varied surfaces. The 9-speed automatic transmission is optimized for highway efficiency, providing a refined experience during commutes between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for four adults, featuring high-quality Oxford leather and dual-zone climate control that is robust enough to handle peak GCC summer temperatures. The acoustic insulated roof ensures that even with the top up, heat soak and external noise are kept to a minimum. Tech-savvy drivers will appreciate the 10.2-inch touchscreen and the clarity of the 13-speaker Meridian audio system.

Safety

Safety is paramount with a specialized rollover protection system that deploys hidden aluminum bars in the event of an emergency. The HSE trim includes a full suite of airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera to assist with tight city parking. Standard stability controls and emergency brake assist provide extra confidence during high-speed highway travel or unexpected weather changes.

The bottom line

This GCC spec HSE Convertible is the ideal choice for a buyer looking for a stylish, low-mileage lifestyle vehicle that doesn't compromise on Land Rover's legendary prestige. It offers a rare combination of open-air freedom and SUV practicality that remains unmatched in the local market.
