Summary

This 2020 Ford Edge SE offers a compelling balance of mid-size space and modern efficiency for the GCC market. With its 6-year vehicle age and 133,000 km, the mileage is typical for a well-utilised UAE commuter, while the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale strength in the region. Unlike many compact crossovers, the Edge provides a wide, comfortable cabin that handles long cross-country drives between Emirates with ease. The SE trim ensures you get the core Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite as standard, making it a smarter buy for those prioritizing safety and daily practicality. For the GCC buyer, the standard All-Wheel Drive provides extra stability on rain-slicked highways and gravel access roads.

This Car vs Other 2020 Edges

At 133,000 km over 6 years, this Edge has been driven roughly 22,000 km annually, which aligns perfectly with the GCC average of 20,000 to 25,000 km. While higher than global figures, this is standard for the region's highway-heavy lifestyle, and the 2.0L EcoBoost engine is well-regarded for its durability over these distances. The black finish is a strong resale asset in the local market, ensuring it stays desirable when you decide to upgrade.

SE vs Lower Trims

The SE serves as the entry point but is notably well-equipped, including the SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. It also features dual-zone automatic climate control, a must-have for the intense GCC summer, which ensures passenger comfort across the cabin. While higher trims add leather and sunroofs, the SE provides the same 250 hp powertrain and safety tech at a much more accessible price point.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Murano or Chevrolet Blazer, the Edge leads with one of the largest boot capacities in the two-row segment, offering 1,110 litres behind the second row. Its 2.0L turbocharged engine provides a punchy 250 hp that feels more responsive during highway overtaking than some naturally aspirated rivals. The Edge also benefits from a very wide track, offering a more stable and car-like driving experience on the fast-moving highways of the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the AWD 2.0L model typically averages around 10.0 L/100km, performing efficiently during long-distance drives between cities. Ford enjoys an extensive authorized service network via Al Tayer and Premier Motors in the UAE, with similarly strong coverage across the GCC. While it depreciates slightly faster than Japanese competitors, the Edge holds its value well among American SUVs due to its high demand as a secondary family vehicle. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km to suit the local climate.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L EcoBoost engine delivers a robust 250 hp and 373 Nm of torque, allowing this SUV to reach 100 km/h in approximately 8 seconds. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system automatically adjusts torque to maintain traction, which is particularly useful on sandy shoulders or during the region's heavy winter rains. With a 1,588 kg braked towing capacity, it is fully capable of hauling small jet skis or trailers for weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five adults, offering class-leading legroom that makes it a favorite for family road trips. The dual-zone climate control is powerful enough to cool the large interior quickly even after being parked in the sun. Despite being the SE trim, the interior features high-quality insulation, providing a quiet environment that shields passengers from outside road noise during high-speed cruising.

Safety

Safety is a standout feature with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite included as standard, providing Blind Spot Information (BLIS), Lane-Keeping System, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. These active systems are invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. The vehicle also comes equipped with a comprehensive airbag system and a rearview camera to assist with parking in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer seeking a spacious, safe, and highway-ready SUV without the premium price of a luxury brand, this well-maintained Edge is a practical and reliable opportunity.
