Summary

This Range Rover Velar P250 is a standout choice for those seeking a modern luxury crossover that balances refined city presence with genuine off-road heritage. Its grey exterior is a highly resilient resale choice in the GCC, maintaining its aesthetic appeal and value better than bolder alternatives. With mileage significantly below the local annual average of 20,000 km, this vehicle offers a mechanically fresher ownership prospect for long-term use. For the UAE and wider GCC market, the Velar’s mix of avant-garde design and reliable Ingenium power makes it a savvy executive commuter or stylish family cruiser. Ownership is further supported by a robust regional service network, ensuring peace of mind during the hottest summer months.

This Car vs Other 2020 Range Rover Velars

At 48,000 km, this Velar has been driven significantly less than the typical 80,000–100,000 km expected for a four-year-old vehicle in the GCC. This low-usage profile translates to less wear on the suspension and cooling systems, which are critical for reliability in extreme heat. The grey finish is among the most sought-after colors in the local used market, ensuring faster liquidity and stronger value retention compared to less conventional shades.

P250 vs Lower Trims

The P250 trim is the essential step into the Velar range that provides the turbocharged Ingenium engine as standard, offering a better power-to-weight ratio than base diesel variants common in other markets. As a GCC-spec model, it typically features enhanced cooling and local infotainment compatibility that lower-trim imports lack. Standard features often include the dual-screen Touch Pro Duo system and premium LED lighting that define the Velar's high-tech cabin identity.

Range Rover Velar vs Segment Rivals

The Velar leads the Porsche Macan and BMW X4 in cargo practicality, offering 748 litres of boot space compared to their more constrained rear volumes. Its 83-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance highway drives between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, providing a theoretical range of over 1,000 km per fill. While rivals focus on track-like handling, the Velar utilizes its Terrain Response system to offer superior confidence on gravel paths and light desert terrain.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the P250 averages between 9.4 and 10.4 L/100km, which is efficient for an AWD SUV in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance in the UAE is streamlined through authorized centers like Al Tayer, with recommended service intervals of 13,000 km or 12 months. GCC-spec Land Rovers typically retain their value better than American or European imports, experiencing an average annual depreciation of approximately 12–15% in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivers a verified 0–100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving motorways. Its All-Wheel Drive system is managed by Terrain Response, which optimizes the vehicle for surfaces ranging from sand to wet tarmac at the touch of a button. A top speed of 217 km/h and 365 Nm of torque provide the necessary muscle for both refined cruising and active weekend adventures across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the innovative Touch Pro Duo interface, which integrates vehicle controls into two sleek 10-inch screens for a minimalist look. High-quality materials and acoustic glass insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet, even at highway speeds, while the powerful dual-zone climate control is engineered to handle 45°C+ summer peaks. The five-seat layout offers ample legroom and a flat-folding rear bench for maximum utility during family road trips.

Safety

This Velar is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Lane Keep Assist, Front and Rear Parking Aids, and a Driver Condition Monitor. The AWD system provides permanent traction control, which is vital for stability on loose sand or during rare heavy rain events. Additionally, standard features like Blind Spot Assist and Adaptive Speed Limiter are particularly valuable for navigating the high-speed, multi-lane highways typical of GCC city planning.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer seeking a low-mileage, high-style SUV that holds its value, this GCC-spec Velar in a premium resale color is an exceptional opportunity.
