Summary

This 2021 Nissan Patrol XE offers a practical entry into the legendary Y62 ownership experience, featuring the reliable 4.0L V6 engine that is perfectly suited for daily commutes and weekend family trips. With its white exterior—the most desirable resale color in the GCC—and relatively low mileage for its age, this SUV represents a stable investment for long-term ownership. The Patrol stands out for its exceptional cabin space and cooling performance, outclassing rivals in passenger comfort during the peak summer months. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a mechanical setup designed for regional heat and a widespread service network that ensures high reliability across all Emirates and beyond.

This Car vs Other 2021 Nissan Patrols

With just over 67,000 km, this vehicle sits well below the typical GCC average for a four-year-old full-size SUV, which often reaches 90,000 km or more. The white exterior is the preferred choice for the local market, significantly aiding heat reflection and ensuring the strongest possible resale value. Compared to high-mileage examples, this Patrol XE offers a tighter mechanical feel and a well-preserved interior.

XE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the Y62 generation, the XE provides all the essential Patrol hardware, including the Intelligent 4x4 system with selectable sand, rock, and snow modes. It adds 18-inch alloy wheels and a leather-wrapped gear shift over more basic fleet configurations, while maintaining the same 140-litre fuel capacity found in the top-tier trims. This makes it the ideal choice for buyers who prioritize the Patrol's legendary chassis and durability over complex electronic add-ons.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Chevrolet Tahoe in terms of total fuel capacity, with its 140-litre tank providing exceptional range for long-distance desert crossings. Its independent rear suspension offers a smoother highway ride compared to the live-axle setups found in some competitors, making it a more refined family cruiser. The cabin cooling system is widely regarded as the most powerful in its class, a critical advantage during GCC summers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is engineered for durability and is compatible with widely available 95-octane fuel across the region. Maintenance is simplified by one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts availability among the best for any vehicle sold in the GCC. The Patrol XE consistently retains approximately 80% of its value after three years, outperforming American and European rivals in terms of depreciation.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 273 mm ground clearance and a low-range transfer case, this Patrol is a genuine off-road tool capable of handling soft sand dunes and rocky wadis. The 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth highway cruising, allowing the V6 to maintain low RPM at speed for increased efficiency. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, it is also highly capable of hauling boats or trailers between Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout provides genuine adult-sized space in all three rows, with dedicated roof-mounted A/C vents for every passenger to ensure rapid cooling. The XE interior is finished with durable materials designed to withstand heavy family use and the intense local sun. Standard features include a cool box in the center console, which is a GCC-essential for keeping drinks chilled on long drives.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a standard suite that includes dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and Vehicle Dynamic Control for stability on uneven surfaces. Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control provide extra confidence when navigating steep terrain, while front and rear parking sensors help manage the vehicle's large footprint in tight city parking.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Patrol XE is the perfect match for a family looking for legendary reliability and massive interior space without the premium price of a V8. Its low mileage and white-on-beige configuration make it a standout choice for value-conscious buyers in the UAE market.
