Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Palisade SMART represents a compelling opportunity for GCC buyers seeking a modern, full-sized family SUV with reasonable mileage for its age. As a 2022 model with under 60,000 km, it has bypassed the steepest period of initial depreciation while remaining mechanically fresh for years of regional travel. The SMART trim provides a sophisticated balance of essential technology and premium comfort, making it a standout choice against more expensive luxury rivals that offer similar cabin dimensions. Finished in Black, it occupies one of the strongest resale positions in the used market, as this color remains a perennial favorite across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This naturally aspirated V6 powerhouse is perfectly suited for the long-distance highway hauls between cities like Dubai and Muscat, offering a smooth and reliable powertrain that is easy to maintain. For the buyer who prioritizes safety, immense internal volume, and a prestigiously styled exterior without the premium badge tax, this specific listing is one of the most logical family investments currently available in the region.

This Car vs Other 2022 Palisades

With 59,858 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits comfortably below the expected mileage for a three-year-old SUV in the GCC, where the average annual usage typically ranges between 20,000 and 25,000 km. Most comparable 2022 models in the used market are approaching the 70,000 km mark, giving this specific unit a distinct advantage in terms of mechanical longevity and wear. The exterior is finished in a deep Black, which is widely considered a Tier-1 resale color in the local market, ensuring it retains a higher percentage of its value compared to more niche or experimental shades. This mileage-to-age ratio suggests the vehicle was used primarily for urban commuting or occasional family road trips rather than heavy daily commercial or fleet-like duty. Owners often prefer these lower-mileage examples because they generally still feel tight and quiet, lacking the interior rattles often associated with high-mileage family haulers. Choosing this unit means securing a vehicle that is early in its operational life cycle while benefitting from a secondary market price point.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim is the strategic sweet spot in the lineup, offering several key upgrades that GCC buyers find indispensable for daily comfort. While base trims often feel utilitarian, the SMART variant introduces more refined interior materials and an upgraded infotainment interface that vastly improves the user experience during long commutes. It features enhanced driver assistance technology and convenience features like a power tailgate and advanced parking sensors which are often omitted on entry-level versions. Perhaps most importantly for the regional climate, the SMART trim typically includes upgraded air conditioning controls and better cabin insulation to combat the intense summer heat. The seat adjustments are more comprehensive in this trim, allowing for better ergonomic support, which is a major factor during extended drives between Emirates. This trim level ensures that you aren't just buying a large car, but a well-equipped sanctuary that remains competitive with much newer models entering the market today.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

When compared to segment stalwarts like the Honda Pilot or the Ford Explorer, the Palisade wins on interior design and pure passenger volume. It offers a genuinely adult-friendly third row, which is a rarity in the mid-size SUV class where the back seats are often reserved for children. The 3.8L V6 engine provides a more linear and traditional power delivery compared to the smaller turbocharged units found in some rivals, making it exceptionally reliable in the extreme heat of the GCC where turbos can suffer from heat soak. Its fuel tank capacity is generous, allowing for fewer stops on the long stretches of highway between major GCC hubs. Furthermore, the infotainment system is widely regarded as more intuitive and faster-responding than those found in competitors like the Toyota Highlander. This combination of space, simplified mechanical reliability, and modern tech makes it the preferred choice for growing families who want a premium experience without the premium price tag.

Running Costs & Resale

In real-world GCC conditions, the 3.8L V6 engine delivers a balanced fuel consumption profile, averaging roughly 10.5 to 11.5 liters per 100 km on the highway, and slightly more in the stop-start traffic of Riyadh or Dubai. The vehicle is designed to run efficiently on standard petrol grades available across the region, which helps keep daily operational costs predictable. Maintenance is straightforward, with service intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km; since Hyundai has one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, parts are readily available and affordable. The Palisade has shown remarkably strong value retention in the GCC market, often depreciating at a slower rate than its American counterparts due to its reputation for long-term durability. At the three-year mark, a well-maintained Palisade like this one typically holds about 65-70% of its original value, making it a safe financial bet. The widespread availability of expert technicians across all seven Emirates ensures that even out-of-warranty repairs are manageable and cost-effective.

Performance & Capability

This Palisade is powered by a robust 3.8L GDI V6 engine producing 335 horsepower, providing effortless acceleration for a vehicle of this size. On the highway, the 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, allowing for confident overtaking even when the car is fully loaded with seven passengers and luggage. While this is a Front Wheel Drive model optimized for fuel efficiency and urban comfort, it features various drive modes that adjust throttle response and steering weight to suit different road conditions. The suspension is specifically tuned to soak up road imperfections, making it feel stable and planted at the higher speed limits common on GCC motorways. It offers a respectable ground clearance that allows it to handle gravel paths or sandy drives to beach campsites without issue. 0-100 km/h is achieved with a refined growl in approximately 7.5 to 8 seconds, which is more than sufficient for merging into fast-moving highway traffic. This powertrain is a known quantity in the region, celebrated for its ability to operate at peak performance even when ambient temperatures exceed 45 degrees Celsius.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Palisade is its greatest selling point, featuring a massive 7-seat configuration that prioritizes individual passenger space. Use of the captain chair layout in the second row allows for easy access to the third row while giving middle-row passengers a more executive feel. The air conditioning system is world-class, designed to rapidly cool the large cabin volume even after the car has been parked in the direct sun; dedicated rear vents ensure that even third-row passengers stay comfortable. The SMART trim includes high-quality upholstery that is both durable for family use and pleasant to the touch, alongside plenty of USB charging ports distributed throughout the cabin. Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels are exceptionally low, thanks to extensive sound-deadening materials that keep the roar of the road and wind at bay during high-speed travel. Storage is abundant, with a clever center console design and a large boot that remains usable even when the third row is upright. This is a car designed for the 'big family' lifestyle of the GCC, where weekend road trips are a frequent occurrence.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the 2022 Palisade, which holds a prestigious 5-Star NCAP rating, providing total peace of mind for family buyers. This SMART trim comes equipped with a suite of active safety features, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, which are vital for navigating the multi-lane highways of the UAE. Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning help combat fatigue during long desert drives between major cities. The vehicle is constructed using high-strength steel for a rigid safety cell, complemented by a comprehensive multi-airbag system that protects all three rows of passengers. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert makes reversing in crowded mall parking lots significantly safer, while the Rear Occupant Alert provides a clever secondary check for parents. Hyundai’s safety tech is known for being helpful without being intrusive, creating a secure driving environment for both the driver and their loved ones in any condition.

The bottom line

This 2022 Hyundai Palisade SMART is the ideal choice for a GCC family that needs maximum space and modern safety without the high mileage often found in the used market. It is a strategically selected listing that combines a popular color, a reliable V6 engine, and a feature set that makes it a superior long-term value compared to smaller or less refined competitors.
